AggieDave 6 #1 August 27, 2003 Yup, its official, I'm trailering my VW back to College Station in a few hours. I'm so excited I can't stand it. So now I'm all set to get back to CS, put it up on jackstands and get to work. First order of work is to pull the engine, put it on my engine stand and start pulling it apart to see what I can salvage for a rebuild. Then the same with the other components, suspension, brakes, etc. There's no way I can build the beast of what I eventually want to build right now, I couldn't even afford the Garrett T04 and the Weber IDF-44s, but I think I might be able to build a 1914cc or a 2110cc killer over the course of the next year... I'm finally getting a chance to return to my first automotive love, my 1973 VW SuperBeetle (1302). After I get the car uncovered and on the trailer tomorrow, I'll snap some digital pics and post them. Can you tell I'm pumped?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

SkymonkeyONE 4 #9 August 27, 2003 You know, it's entirely possible to build a VW engine from aftermarket parts for under one thousand dollars. It's also entirely possible to drop the engine in ten minutes and to rebulid the engine in about two hours. Very, very similar to a Harley engine. AggieDave 6 #13 August 28, 2003 Yup, I can drop the engine very quickly, and rebuild it in an afternoon very easily. The thing is, I'm not building it for under a grand, I'm doing it right, nice parts, fast parts...fast parts that will go fast AND last a while. Well, my dad didn't send me the digital pics I took with his camera this afternoon like he promised he would, so it'll be tomorrow when the pics are posted.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
