billvon 3,121 #28 August 27, 2003 I think you left out a few options from the poll: -get a car that uses less gas -get a car that doesn't use gas (i.e. diesel, natural gas, electric) -drive with other people

billvon 3,121 #31 August 27, 2003 >It's a friggin' conspiracy I tell ya! The oil companies will use any > excuse to jack the hell out of prices . . . . Well - of course. It's capitalism. They will charge whatever you are willing to pay. As soon as you're not willing to pay it any more, they won't make more money by raising prices, so they won't raise prices any more. If we were all willing to pay $100 a jump, what do you think jump prices would be like?

On the other hand, the US being the controlling source of the remaining oil in 40 years is not any better; it would just make the Iraqis bitter toward us again. ***************************************** Blondes do have more fun! drewboo 0 #37 August 27, 2003 Read somewhere that there is only enough oil in the ground..(everywhere) to last another 50 years maybe. So some of you will live long enough to see the end of this era...me ill be dead in anthor 20 (maybe). Stop having so many children...the gas will last longer. billvon 3,121 #38 August 28, 2003 >Read somewhere that there is only enough oil in the ground.. >everywhere) to last another 50 years maybe. 40 years of cheap oil left at our current rate of expansion. There will always be oil left somewhere, but at some point it's going to cost $10/gallon to extract it. At that point it will be cheaper to synthesize it. >Stop having so many children...the gas will last longer. If either children or SUV's have to go . . . .
