Taking metabolism boosters

Recommended Posts

I recently started taking Hydroxycut to aid in losing some weight, though I have heard many horror stories from friends, anyone here have any experience with it?

Chris
I thought of the odds of me succeeding, versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid, and I went ahead anyway.

Depends on the hydroxycut, but I personally wouldn't take any of them. My only experience with this is litigating the consequences of it.

My guess is that it is an ephedra free formula you are using. It doesn't mean that it still isn't risky. These products contain "sympathomimetics," which are prodcuts that stimulate the central nervous system. This increases the metabolism.

Back when they had the ephedra, you'd find that these products contained ephedra, caffeine, pseudoephedrine, and aspirin, and other things that would pick up the metabolism. The danger isn't ephedra all by itself. The danger comes from stacking all of these ingredients

I'll make a comparison. Would you take a product that contained morphine, alcohol, valium, and vicodin? Heck, no! The risk of adding all of those depressants together can kill you. Everyone knows not to mix depressants.

The same is true for these products. Each of those ingredients will increase your blood pressure, your body temperature, constrict the blood vessels, etc. When you add them all together, you get 2+2+2+2 = 20. Then add the natural effects of exercise and see what happens.

You lose weight becuse it does all this stuff to your body. It raises your metabolism, which causes all of these effects.

Do not exceed the recommended dose. If you start feeling any bad effects, discontinue use immediately. Losing weight is not worth stroking out or suffering heart problems.

It is expensive! You don't need it !
I myself cannot take anything that effects the liver anymore...(read the label)
I got this little tube for free in the mail (trail offer)
of anabolic steriod stuff..haven't too it tho..
Will probably throw it out!

There is no miracle pill that will help you lose weight. And not everyone reacts well to these pills - they can cause a significant increase in your BP/pulse even when you are at a rest. They have even been known to cause heart palpatations.

Only take them if you are working out, and just before you work out. The idea of these pills are to help increase your heartrate to get you into that cardio and fat burning range a lot quicker, thus optomizing your workout. What most people don't realize is that you will still lost just about the same amount of weight on the workout plan (with a balance diet) without the pills.

If you plan on taking them without exercise, then you are wasting your time and money.

Well, I exercise constantly, I would say I average running between 15-20 miles a week, plus lifting. I've always had trouble losing weight, except for the Atkins diet, (I'm about 5 foot 7, 167 pounds) but I work out to much to not eat carbs.

There is a supplement that is becoming one of the new "must have" things at GNC type stores - Chitosan (sp?). First off, if you are allergic to shellfish, don't take it. What it's supposed to do is help block the absorbtion of carbs into your system. Chitosan stays in your system for a short period of time, so you need to take the pills within 30 minutes before you have your meals, otherwise they claim it won't work. Or, you could just add a bunch of fish to your diet.

I was the same way. Back when I was running 20 miles per week and doign 2 hours of PT every day, I was 6'1" and 175. But I never had a six pack and always had fat.

Basically, I think I respect my body's limits. I'll make jumping out of planes the one thing that I'll make my body do that it is not supposed to do.

Well, I don't know about Hydroxycut, but I am currently taking Stacker 3.. It does have ephedra and it does have Chitosan.. Probably not the best for me...

What I feel that is does for me is to keep me feeling like staying active... I feel more like staying awake and moving around instead of taking a rest...

I figure if I stay more active, I can keep the weight under control a little better. Again, the Stacker is just a crutch, but I seem to feel better taking them and tend not to eat as much.

I also have a problem keeping my weight down... I am 5' 10" and weigh about 166 pounds... My current goal is 17% BODY FAT... Even body mass can 'show' you are overweight, but body fat is a good measure of health.

I am currently at 18% body fat, which is at the healthy/athletic range... I would like 17% to put me into the "fitness" range, but I seem to be on a plateau.

I just know where I am now is waaaaay better than 5' 10" and 230 pounds like I was before...:S

So, if you are working real hard, take a look into your body fat.

I also don't want to say that any stimulants will help. I just wanted to note that I do take the diet supplements... Not in over abundance, but less than the recommended dose (twice a day, five days a week sometimes).

Once the plane takes off, you're gonna have to land - Might as well jump out!!
