storm1977 0 #1 August 31, 2003 Ok, so I am borrowing my Epson Projector from work so I can watch movies on my wall at home. The only problem is, I don't want to use my laptops audio, I want to run the audio through my Home stereo system (RCA connection). I have Dell Lattitude computer, and the only adiou jack is the headphones type. How do I connect it to the stereo? Is there a headphones to RCA converter out there? Help, the lord of the Rings movie is calling me. leroydb 0 #2 August 31, 2003 yes they do make them.... but its easy to make... take an old pair of headphones and splice them into 2 male RCA pieces....Leroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio...
vid666 0 #3 August 31, 2003 yes, you should be able to get a sound card ( i believe 3.5 mil or 2.5mil ) to RCA converter. The sound won't be awesome, but it should work... Also depending on the kind of converter you get, it might end up being mono :(

Kris 0 #5 August 31, 2003 Get yourself to any electronics store. All you need is a 1/4" to RCA adapter cable. It's what we use at my DZ to run the audio channels for movies from my laptop to the TV.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

storm1977 0 #7 August 31, 2003 When I peeled it back, there are 2 sets of wires. An outer set, then a yellow insulation with copper core. Do I cross both together? or are they separate feeds? ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

Center terminal of one RCA plug to the 'point' of the 3-conductor 1/8" headphone plug, Center terminal of the other RCA plug to the middle headphone plug conductor. Both RCA shields to the shield of the heaphone plug,

Do I cross both together? or are they separate feeds? I would have thought it would be faster and easier to buy one. Any decent computer or electronics place should have them. $3-5, any more they're ripping you off. Peter (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me. storm1977 0 #11 August 31, 2003 Well, let's face it, in a day and age when a USB cable cost $40 sometimes it's just eisier to make a cable. I am at work right now so I can't go to the store. I have all the tools I need so I figure ...why not.
