SkydiveNFlorida 0 #1 September 2, 2003 Ok, driving back from Z-hills last night, I stopped at a McDonalds to get some food after getting gas. The woman who served me was oddly kind and talkative. There was no one in line, and I had to eat my nuggets b4 getting on the road, so I stayed in the Drivethru and chatted with her for a while. She's gonna be a paramedic, she's done with school. I told her I wasn't sure what I was going to do, and that I had planned on going into pharmacy, but might go into engineering or geology. She said that my calling was in medicine and that I would be very good at it. She proceeded to tell me that she is a prophet and asked if I knew what a prophet was. I said I wasn't sure, but maybe someone who could foretell things, she just said yes. I told her i'd see her around in St Pete one day I am sure, and I left. This event really got me thinking. I have always liked the medical field, watched the surgery channel(s), etc. I said, well, maybe not pharmacy but something in medicine would be good. Today I went down to the college I attend, and was trying to find out about next semester's financial aid status because I didn't get it this semester. I had been thinking recently that I hope I don't get out of the swing of thing with a whole semester off, and that it really sux that I won't get any credits. Well, the woman told me that I was fine and that i'd already rec'd aid for this semester and should be attending classes that started last Tuesday! I SWEAR to you that I checked the computer after the classes would've been dropped if i'd not gotten aid, and it appeared they had, and my aid status didn't have any $$ in it. Turns out she said it was granted on the 12th and that I did have classes. I swear they were not there, this is really weird. I attended Chem lab today and i'm a week behind in Chem II and Calc II, but i'll attend tomorrow and try to catch up. Sorry for the lengthiness of this post. I am just really freaked out about this turn of events. I thought I didn't have classes and was planning on getting a second job to save some $$, and i'd even thought in the back of my mind that I hope that i'm strong enough to go back and give up the extra cash in January. Turns out i'll be going to school every day b4 work again, no 2nd job, no xtra $$, and no worries about being out of the swing of things. In addition, i'm fairly focused on staying with medicine in some way or another. Any thoughts? I wonder if this woman was for real or not. It would be pretty terrible to tell people you're a prophet and not be. I have a feeling she really is a prophet. I almost turned around, after getting back on the highway, to get her # or talk more. Maybe I should have. Angela.
alanab 0 #2 September 2, 2003 that is pretty freaky. i dont really know what a prophet is, but if she is one, that would be pretty cool. i would have blew it off an not really thought about it much, but thats just me. what do you think you'll do about it? SkydiveNFlorida 0 #3 September 2, 2003 I don't know what i'll do. I'm definitely freaked out. What if this is for real and i'm meant to be in medicine? I always wanted to be a brain surgeon, but then thought, well, pharmacy isn't nearly as much school so I might do that. Then, I became somewhat uninterested in pharmacy and thought about other fields. Then, this... this woman tells me this is my calling. Something in medicine. What if she is a prophet? I am really freaked out. I think next time I go to z-hills, i'll take 75 and stop at the same exit and see if she is there. I know she transfers to become a paramedic soon, tho. This is so freaky. I have met people that have said they had psychic powers, etc, and have been of course in disbelief. But, this woman claimed to be a prophet. You'd likely go to hell for saying that if you weren't. And i've never wanted to turn the car around to go back and chat with a McDonalds employee before. I am thinking she might be for real, and I should probably listen. Angela. Jib 0 #6 September 2, 2003 I wouldn't worry much about a prophet serving McDonald's chicken, but if you have an interest in medicine, see how you do in organic chem (it's what kept a bunch of my friends out of med school) and go from there. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. SkydiveNFlorida 0 #7 September 2, 2003 I am not going to judge someone for where they work. otoh, I understand that it's quite unreasonable to trust someone who tells you they are a prophet, and I know I am extremely gullible. But, yeah, I will see how I do in org chem. I am in chem II this semester, so theoretically, I should take org I next semester. Thanks. Angela.

ZoneRat 0 #9 September 2, 2003 The world can always use another medical practicioner. Important, wholesome work, that. Not suprising that she, being a paramedic in training thought that you should go into medicine too. A lot of people like medical shows. That's why they're on tv. I don't really hold with people being prophets... I tend to think they're just folk that really wish they were more than they actually are. She probably meant well. Just has a need to be something special. Or maybe she thought "Minority Report" was a really great movie... subconsciously wants to be a pre-cog. That said, the fact that it got you thinking might be an indicater that medicine does hold an interest for you. Kinda like when you shake a magic 8-ball. If it answers "No" or "Yes" and you find yourself shaking it a second time with the same question... well, that sorta tells you something doesn't it. Same thing here. She said medicine and your eyes lit up. No need to shake the ball a second time on that one! As for your financial aid coming in at the last moment: That was lucky! And you know what luck is doncha? It's when people take the laws of probability ~personally~. Prophet or not, it got ya thinking... and that's a good thing! Do what you thinks right for you and good "luck" in your classes! Just my 2 cents... Robin“There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

I could of course attribute her absence to her being transferred to st pete to be a paremedic, but what if she really was just meant to tell me that? She said she'd worked there for 16 years, tho! Ahh! I know I am too gullible... how do I stop that? ! Everyone probably thinks i'm weird now. I mean, yes, maybe she just wants to be something she's not. And, I do happen to have a love for medicine and so it kinda freaked me out when she said that even though i'd kinda been down on pharmacy and more up and up on engineering or geology. She could've gone with something I sounded more enthused about, but instead said that medicine was my calling. Ok, I sound stupid, think i'll stop now. Angela. WrongWay 0 #13 September 2, 2003 Lemme tell ya somethin mate. Whatever it was that lead you back into school and on to the road to becoming a "medical practicioner" doesn't matter. The thing that matters is the fact that something DID lead you back to it, and you seem very excited about it. There' s an old saying: When life is good, sometimes it better not to ask "why". Follow that. Somebody somewhere wants you there, so be there, and do well. I wish you luck, my friend. Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails. Beerlight 0 #15 September 2, 2003 Angela, that's is some weird sh&*T. Anyways, why Pharmacy??? Do you really wish to basically STAND in one place ALL day? I have pharmacist friends, they no like it that much. You wanna be a brain surgeon, then go and BE A BRAIN SURGEON! Set the goal and go for it. I take it your a very intelligent person and (nothing against pharmacist), but I think the world would be better off if you took the road with the most challenges (ie. surgeon). Plus, if I ever needed a brain surgeon, I could call on YOU!!! (hope I just didn't jinx myself... YIKES!!!) Good luck..... Buck

riddler 0 #17 September 3, 2003 See you guys joke, but personally I think it's a shame that many prophets these days work at fast-food establishments. It isn't until long after they die that we recognize them for their true value to society - until then, it's grease burns and minimum wage. Why, if past prophets had lived today, then we would have scriptures that say things like: Thou shall not (insert favorite vice here). Would you like fries with that? and The path to enlightenment may only be achieved by super-sizing your soda. As it is, we may be subject to future religious icons depicting our martyr-of-choice chained to a frosty machine. That's just wrong.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. SkydiveNFlorida 0 #18 September 3, 2003 Buck, no, I do not wish to stand in one place all day and disburse pills to complaining medicare patients. This is why I was considering engineering or another career. I always wanted to go into brain surgery, but thought it would be too much school for me. But, i'm feeling enthused and I think i'm gonna shoot toward it. This is great! Marks, thanks! I am feeling so.. something. I don't know. Maybe enlightened. It's a great feeling. Michele 1 #21 September 3, 2003 Heya, Angela... Sometimes things happen and we just don't understand it. When we question it instead of simply experience it, we lose some of the value... The lady - prophet or not - didn't do what lots of phoney "Miss Cleo" types do - she didn't take your money, tell you you were cursed, etc. I would venture to bet that she was an honest soul who got to talking, and spoke her heart. Is it "coomunication from the other side"? "Spiritual Guide"? "Dedad Uncle Joe trying to guide you"? Who knows? And ultimately, who really cares. From a spiriutal side, her job was to give you information. Your job is to accept it, investigate it, not question it beyond reason, and see where the path leads. It could be that you'll go into the medical field, and another opportunity opens the door and walks in...but had you not been in the med field, then the opportunity would never have found you. It could be that you will create a cure for some illness. It could be that you give medicine to someone who can then get healthy and go on to contribute to the world...either by being the next president or by having a loving family life. Whatever it is, contributions we make with our lives make ripples...and the ripple is what counts. We cannot always see the last ripple, nor can we see when our ripple creates another ripple. It doesn't matter if she was a prophet or a fraud. She made a contribution to you - gave you direction and energy, revitalized a goal - during a meeting which was not planned nor prepared for...so accept the gift and go adventuring. Nothing happens by chance... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

SkydiveNFlorida 0 #23 September 3, 2003 Not analyzing it any further. I am happy that I was motivated, and probably wouldn't have given a thought to going to the school today if it hadn't been for the encounter. Then, i'd have been too far behind to catch up on the classes I didn't even know I was in. And would have had to pay back the grant, too. So, it was definitely a good thing. And, i'm feeling very motivated! Angela.
