dropdeded 0 #1 September 10, 2003 Not much of a fisherman but I did manage to slay a couple small trout this weekend up by Mammoth Lakes Ca. Im gonna cook em up and stuff em into my belly tonight. BUT, like I said, I aint no fisherman and I have no idea how I should cook them Any suggestions on a simple recipe with stuff found in the average bachelor pad kitchen? dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
whocares 0 #2 September 10, 2003 CAPTAINS RECIPE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 - Large salmon/trout fillet or 2-4 Salmon/trout steaks 2-Bell peppers 2-Bags small carrots 2-Bags small red potatoes 6-8 Sprigs of fresh cilantro 3-lemons Oregano Butter Salt Pepper McCormick lemon/pepper seasoning salt PREPARING THE FISH Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease the bottom of the dish with butter. Lay fillets or steaks in middle of dish. Roll two lemons until they're very soft. Cut them in half and squeeze fresh lemon juice on top of the fish generously. Slice one lemon and lay round slices on top of fish. Slice bell peppers and lay these on top of fish and the lemons. Put one sprig of the fresh cilantro inside each of the bell peppers. Sprinkle entire fish with oregano and the McCormick lemon/pepper seasoning salt. PREPARING THE VEGETABLES Boil or steam the carrots and potatoes for about 5 minutes. Place vegetables around entire fish filling in your dish. Lay small pats of butter on top of carrots and the potatoes. Sprinkle them with salt, pepper and oregano. Place entire dish in oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes. Salmon/trout should turn white in color and flake easily when probed with a fork.
Amazon 7 #3 September 10, 2003 Dead Fish ROCK..... it keeps them from doing rude things in the waters of the world. Tasty little buggers too when cooked. Simple recipe.. lemon and some REAL butter.... about 1 slice from a cube 1/4" think per fish.. put in a GLASS covered dish.. stick in the Microwave for 3 minutes for a 1 pound fish or until cooked...season to your liking.. This works better with salmon.. now if you had a barbeque... mmmmm much better to wrap same stuff in aluminum foil... or just singe it all right there on the grill. chopchop 0 #4 September 10, 2003 4 fillets... hmmm... rinse and pat dry with paper towel.. crack an egg in a bowl and stir it up.. pour some bread crumbs onto a cutting board and season with salt and pepper... run the fillets through the egg and then put them in the bread crumb mixture until covered.. Grill over a hot heat for a few minutes, flip them, a few minutes more and woila! yummy! Did it with some Red Snapper last night. Side dish... cut some potatoes into chunks by slicing lengthwise in half and then making 1/2 - 3/4" thick slices.. Take a piece of aluminum foil (about 18" long for 2 potatoes) and fold up the edges.. put the potatoes in it and drizzle on olive oil and any seasonings (garlic salt and pepper are good) Fold the 2 ends up to make a nice package.. Throw on the grill for 30-45 minutes.. Empty a can of baked beans into a bowl and nuke for 4 minutes.. Makes a great dinner.. no pans.. Perfect for a bachelor! chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
