smiles 0 #1 September 11, 2003 copied from CSPA chat list: (Canada) Tradition # 1: liquid refreshments flow at the end of jumping Tradition #2: all self-respecting drop zones have a potato cannon Tradition #3: skydivers get pied on special occasions - like x00th-type jumps Well, we gots da beer, and we gots da cannon... we even gots da guy (Bob Fieldhouse) who reached 500 this weekend. As evidence of just why we should keep alcohol and weapons from the hands of skydivers... RIGHT CLICK the following link... and save it to your hard-drive. http://www.skydyv.com/PieCannon.mpg Check it out on your media player (the file is just shy of 900K) Enjoy John (Vernon B.C.) reply from Bob: As the recent recipient of the "John Smith 500th Cannon Award" and aware of the impact (no pun intended) this could have on future 100th & 500th celebrations at DZ's everywhere; several things need to be clarified. Firstly, a test firing was done to ensure the velocity of the whipped-cream was within a safe range and to ensure the propellant ( within the whipped-cream) was not flammable. Secondly, prior to loading "for the event" a breach inspection was done to ensure that a "non-fired" spud from the previous use, was not still in the bore. Thirdly, I was given protective eye-wear. All measures to ensure my safety, were in place.........RIGHT JOHN ?????? Lastly, I was duct taped securely to the f@#<:n' chair for my own safety. What do you get when you mix hair-spray, aerosol whipped-cream and a source of ignition? A smell that you'll never forget and takes a week to wash out of your clothes. To those "underlings" who participated; be afraid..........be very afraid ! Bob
