jtval 0 #1 September 10, 2003 hey Folks, Ive posted similar post before but heres the deal. My zombie life is over as of monday. I will be working a Semi-normal shift. I have been slowly getting back into my routine of running. heres' my question! What do you do for cardio exercise? how did you progress and where are you in your goal training now? a quick description of my routine. I usually go around 5 am due to the hours I work and I m usually fukn exhausted wehn i go. I start out running for 25-30 minutes. doesnt matter how far(distance) I run at first the goal is to get to the end of the TIME. after that becomes easy I up the speed (im still on the rat wheel, its too dry for me in vegas,STILL) my goal is to get abou ta 7 minute mile during my run of 3-4 miles. when I time my self. I run just one mile full throttle. I was running a 5M:45S mile one year ago, and 28 mitunes flat for four miles (this was out doors on a real track) as of right now I am runnin 2.5 to 3 miles in 30 minutes.i am SLOW but I love the feeling of it. tell me your experience (I ask b/c I always like to get new ideas on things and this place usually helps!) Look for the other post called muscular fitness (which I will post in a few seconds)My photos My Videos
SkyDekker 1,465 #2 September 10, 2003 My cardio workout of choice is running as well. I follow a schedule where I run for 10 minutes and walk for 1 minute. It helps to keep the HR down and makes it easier to run long distances. The loss in time is pretty much negligable, specially since I am not out to run records. I like running the 6 to 10 mile distances, with an average 6 mile time of just over 1 hour. I do speed and hill training in between and like to crosstrain by biking or rollerblading. bdev 0 #3 September 10, 2003 I tend to mix a bit of steady speed, 45mins to an hour periods on the stationary bike or running with interval sessions of 25 mins or so... I don't too much running, as my joints get enough battering playing squash. The interval training helps for squash, but also is better for fat-burning. Intense 45second to a minute excersise on the bike, with 15 - 30 seconds rest.--- One life...Use it.

mujie96 0 #6 September 10, 2003 Apparently, I still run. I thought three months with a person whose spectacular genetic makeup made any exercise other than sex unnecessary would have set me way, way back......but I went out and ran 4 on Sunday. And again yesterday. I'm not at 80 mile weeks but at least I don't resemble your typical McDonalds fed American. For something different, Bikram Yoga. I'm an endurance sports person and most yoga really just makes me yawn but Bikram is a hell of a good workout and does cardio, strength training, and flexibility in one shot. And there are lots of flexible chics there. www.bikramyoga.com Just keep swimming...just keep swimming....
rehmwa 2 #7 September 10, 2003 I hate running, running hates me. After I recovered from the ACL replacement (once I could do 4 miles through the woods without a brace), I just lift to keep those muscles tight. But I think the cross-trainer is the greatest machine of all time and I mix that with free weights. (rollerblading and climbing also pretty good for both resistance and cardio). ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

jtval 0 #9 September 12, 2003 actually as a matter of fact, today my boss came to tell us that we should really think about trying to get into shape. asked us to make a routine etc. my response was something like "we've(my shift) already got one in place, and Im not worried about passing it." he was up in arms b/c he thought I was "cocky." when I explain that Im a runner he didnt like it. all I said was that "I" am not worried about it the running is where all the points are. I did a slow jog this morning did 2.5 miles in 22 minutes which is a personal atrocity. my average is 7min/mile but I have JUST started my routine agin I could have ran it much faster but I dont want to gear up too fast. Ive got plenty of time to get my stmina back he was mad b/c he was proud that he was running 14 minute miles and hes 42. I think I embarrassed him in front of everyone....and my time for the day i WEAK AS HELL. so my point being--the Fitness test is a jokeMy photos My Videos
