mujie96 0 #1 September 9, 2003 Specifically, has anyone restored one? I have a thing for them. We were looking before Rob took off, I wanted to do a restoration-not a complete overhaul, mind you but a mostly cosmetic restoration. I'm just wondering if there's someone here I can direct questions to if I can't get them answered elsewhere or on my own. Just keep swimming...just keep swimming.... PhreeZone 20 #3 September 9, 2003 I grew up only 20 minutes from where Airstreams are built in Jackson Center Ohio. They are fairly simple to rebuild and there are LOTS of accessories out there that you can get to customisze one. It used to be a popular shop project for the Vocational Schools to get a wrecked one and restore it then sell it at the end of their senior years. Lots of labor, but all fairly simple work. its not as hard as building a house, but harder then painting a room Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

skip 0 #5 September 9, 2003 While I have not restored one I have done allot of research. I want one so bad but have decided to wait it out a year or so before I dedicate myself to it. Two awsome airstream sites.! www.airstream.net trailers for sale. quotwww.airstreamforums.com really friendly people that will answer all of your questions. It’s actually quite amusing how much this site reminds me of dropzone.com just with a bunch of airstream fanatics and much less Bobbie talk. Also there is a great book available RV Repair and Maintenance Manual 4 ED by Bob Livingston which will help you out allot with your restoration. I am interested in a mid seventies 25 footer and have found several in very good condition for under 5 grand. Just waiting until I have lots of time to spend with it. .:skip
wingnut 0 #6 September 10, 2003 jess i hapened to stay in an airstream at the christmas boogie last year and have the number of the guy that had it. could probly get a hold of him and see if he would mind if i gave you his number.. shouldn't see why not. let me know.. shouldn't be to hard though, they are built sorta componently and it wouldn't be that hard to fix one up. i'm in the process of fixxing up my class c rv at the monemnt and it is easier than i thought. ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
oldnewbie 0 #7 September 13, 2003 Hi mujie I have semi-restored two airstreams. Both of these were my parents trailers. My parents also have a thing for them!!! My mom even became the president of the Michigan Airstream club because she loves them so much!!. I am thinking about getting an old Bambi just for something to camp for a few nights at a time! My parents take theirs down to Casa Grande in the winter, in a park about 5 minutes north of Eloy. Yes, I visit them twice a year too see them (and skydive). There are a few things that you need to know if you are going to buy one. One of these problems are the trailers with the rear-baths separate and drop down as they loosen up. Pain to fix, but it doesn't cost much. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, i'll be happy to try to help.
