sinker 0 #1 September 15, 2003 Some of you will remember way back in February or so my post about my cousin, Aaron Jansen, who is a Blackhawk pilot in the Army. He was deployed to Iraq as part of the 101st Air Assault out of Ft. Campbell. I asked for vibes and prayers for him and his buds. Well, I am VERY happy to say that Aaron is home! He came home a few weeks ago and it was a stealth operation to surprise his mother... when he showed up unannounced, she just about had a heart attack. Literally. She had chest pains for three hours after! Aaron looks great, he's in good spirits, but he says the adjustment back to normalcy has been harder than he thought it would be. There was some dove hunting going on near his property this weekend and he had the typical PTSD reactions to the gunshots. He said that there were at least four distinct times during his 6-7 month stay over there that he was sure he was going to die. His stories he related to me this weekend were harrowing yet uplifting. He witnessed a lot of suffering, but a lot of bravery and heroism as well. His favorite tales are of playing w/ the iraqi children and giving out candy and gum. He's a good man and I'm so happy he's home. Thanks everyone for your prayers and vibes. Now let's get the rest of them back safe too... -the artist formerly known as sinker
