sunnydee123 0 #1 September 12, 2003 So I am hoping everyone along the coastal areas have an eye open to this monster out in the Atlantic. It is a BIG ONE for sure and I is being compared to Hurricane Andrew. They are saying 5 days out before we know more but you might want to have a "game plan" NOW, just incase..... I am still torn about the necessity to board up the house (do you know what a pain in the ass that is for a single 5'4 girl) because I've seen homes with hurricane shutters get totally destroyed BUT I guess it is just the survival gene in us, kicking in or something. Get your jumps in this weekend, who knows what will happen next weekend. Big fat blue calm ones to you all....Denise Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... jmpnkramer 0 #2 September 12, 2003 I am sure you can get help there Girlie but if the beast commeth I would be more than happy to come down there and help you with the house. I know it is far away but you know there is a sofa bed at my place if you need to crash. Keep me posted and I will watch the storm as well. [/scarlett] Next thing you know, the house is boarded up and she didn't even break a sweat. Ah, the power of boobies! sunnydee123 0 #4 September 12, 2003 HEY! I'd never use my "girl power" for something like that ...unless I knew I really wouldn't have to break a sweat. Thanks Kramer....maybe I might consider coming your way if it is going to hit - West might be better right. I'd have to bring the "kids" (2 cats). It's kinda scary actually, although I made light of it....now that I am listening to forecasts and more people talking about it. That sucker is up to 170 mph...yikes! skydiverbrian 0 #5 September 12, 2003 If you jumped into it, would your canopy stay inflated so you could have a crazy ride, or would you just die? In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal
AggieDave 6 #6 September 12, 2003 You're just waiting for the storm to nail some serious cross country canopy milage aren't ya?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Stacy 0 #7 September 12, 2003 i'm a little nervous as well. i was thinking about hooking up my parachute to my car incase it gets thrown, at least it's descent would be alittle slower and more gentle. of course my car would load my canopy at like 14.7:1..... juanesky 0 #8 September 12, 2003 QuoteYou're just waiting for the storm to nail some serious cross country canopy milage aren't ya? No, I think she wants free windtunnel time..... Seriously, board the house, if it is minor, you will prevent the glass to break, and make it worse inside. Call your local red cross, they have always safe places around, for these emergencies. I did volunteer with them for 2 years in Fl not long ago, and they are well prepared. storm1977 0 #14 September 12, 2003 Florida will most likely NOT get this one. NC north through ME needs to be watching carefully on Isabel. I would wait til Monday though before you start making evacuation plans :-) Chris ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
Aviatrr 0 #15 September 12, 2003 I've been paying attention to it, although not that much I must admit. I live in Orlando, so if it gets to me it's already hit 40 miles of land and hopefully weakened. I haven't had to ride out a hurricane yet. I'm leaving town on Tuesday for 10 days, so if it hits, it will be while I'm gone......not sure if that's a good or bad thing, though. Nobody to board up the windows at my house....oh well, that's what insurance is for. Mike

Aviatrr 0 #17 September 12, 2003 According to the Weather Channel, the hurricane is forecast to miss Florida and head north. Possibly the Carolinas? http://www.weather.com/maps/news/atlstorm13/projectedpath_large.html Mike
turtlespeed 226 #18 September 12, 2003 The Kendall area of Miami was hit with the NE edge of Andrew's eye. I watched the sliding glass doors "breathe" in and out totaling 3 to 4 inches. We were in a small apt. and everything turned out OK. But we also had shutters. I heard stuff hitting the shutters during the storm, I had no idea how much. After the storm, and the subsequent rain, I went out side and it looked like someone was shoooting golfballs out of a shotgun at the shutters. Even the cement stucco was pock-marked. The winds during andrew were unofficially clocked at over 200 mph. If you are going to stay for the storm, Please, Please, put up your shutter.
