When purchasing a skydiving item through Dropzone.com classifieds, when is the appropriate time for the buyer to bring up price negotiation? I dont want to negotiate until I've seen it, (sent to my rigger) and I dont know if its kosher to be haggling over the thing after the seller has taken the expense of mailing it to you. When is it appropriate?

Gotta go with Keith on this one. After your rigger has inspected the item, then you can discuss price. The seller knows they will be spending money to sell gear for the shipping. Sometimes the price for shipping can be taken off the bottom price of the item.
If you decide you don't want the item and have to ship it back, you pay for the shipping. It all works out.

BUT: If the price looks kinda firm, you might want to warn the sender that you might negotiate, unless the rig really isn't as advertised.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
