billvon 3,100 #26 September 10, 2003 Best compliment I ever got from a whuffo: Amy and a whuffo were watching one of the 120-ways at Perris, and I was in the outer ring. At breakoff I started tracking like crazy. The whuffo pointed at me (slowly pulling away from everyone) and said "where's he going in such a hurry?" VanillaSkyGirl 6 #27 September 10, 2003 This is a very nice thread. Thank you for beginning it, Amber. I love hearing that I am very intelligent and ambitious and that I can carry my own weight and more. It’s funny, but the best compliments are when someone has an amazed look on his/her face as he/she gives me a compliment. It is when people tell me that I am completely unlike what they had assumed that I would be like when they first saw me. It is when I am told that I went beyond all expectations. This means that I have gained someone’s hard-earned respect and is often not earned without some very difficult struggles on my part. Personally, I would have to say that with awe in his eyes/voice, a man once said, “Rosa, you are an amazing woman.” It was the way that he said it. It was like he had seen me for the first time, and not only seen me, but he had seen good things in me that I hadn’t even seen in myself. It was said after I had finished my first jump (AFF1). I will cherish that moment for as long as I live.

skypuppy 1 #31 September 11, 2003 I was once all wrapped up with a guy under canopy - I yelled up that his canopy was okay but I had to chop, and proceeded to do so, then watched him land his main while all wrapped up in mine, with just his face sticking out through a crossport... He later said that when we first wrapped he couldn't see a thing, and 'you know, I thought we were gonna die - but Puppy, I couldn't think of a better guy to die with!' I took that to be a compliment... But of course, by the time he said it we'd already survived, so maybe he made it up...If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
aero04 0 #32 September 11, 2003 The best compliment I recieved was during my first engineering co-op during the summer of 2001. I was a sophmore at the time. The last day of my co-op I was saying my goodbye's to the other folks there, and I stopped at the cube of one of the old time engineers that worked there. This guy was one of the oldest engineers there, and well respected. While shaking my hand, he told me just keep on doing what your doing, and you'll be a fine engineer. He basically said he would be more than happy to have me as a member of his team in the future. Sure made me feel good to hear that.
rehmwa 2 #33 September 11, 2003 My friends didn't want kids, then changed their minds after meeting my daughter (7 years old). They now have an 8 month old named after mine. It's a longer story than that, but that's the gist. My wife doesn't know yet, but we are visiting them next week in Colorado. I bet a dollar she cries. Another friend (skydiver) and I were in Indo shopping and he was looking for a certain game. Said he wanted to buy it for my daughter. I said, "I didn't know you liked kids". His reply, "I don't, I only like smart kids, like yours." I don't see anything better than that happening, ever. ... lawrocket 3 #36 September 11, 2003 I was never good at taking compliments, as I was unused to hearing them. But, here are a few of my favorites: 1) About my ambition: "What I like best about you is that you are never happy unless you're miserable. But that misery is always in pursuit of something tangible." 2) Backhanded compliment: "When did you get so smart?" 3) On my goofiness: "You can't be explained to people who don't know you. For people who do, you need no explanation." (I asked if he could explain) 4) Physical - "You are HOT!" (note: she had had many, many drinks when she said that. Note 2: I had had no drink by then, and she was HOT!) 5) Sacrificial - "Eltee. If there's anyone I'd want taking a bullet for me, it's you." (What the????) 6) On my music: "That was a helluva lot better than I thought it would be." My wife is hotter than your wife.

Cava 0 #43 September 11, 2003 Most unusual compliment I received was from a fellow barfly at the place I used to hang out. Turns out he was attracted to me (in a hetero, let's have a beer sort of way) because I don't smile very often. Also, once way back in junior high school, a girl thought I was cute.
