kansasskydiver 0 #1 September 16, 2003 I'm disgusted for one with the clubs around here. They don't know what a real club is, the bathrooms are nasty (pretty bad when a guy doesn't want to piss in one) they're just trying to take advantage of the drunks lol what do you look for in a club, what does it have to have to make it a good place?<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist! freeflir29 0 #4 September 16, 2003 Hmmm......lots of small bars here in the Upper Midwest. Mostly it's the type of people that hang out there but I also look for good food and decent drink specials. If you are paying more than a dollar for draught and 20C a wing it's too much in this town! Nice scenery is a big plus too.
skybytch 273 #5 September 16, 2003 I was introduced to the coolest bar ever today. jceman took me to lunch at Capt. Hiram's Sand Bar, on the river in Sebastian. This place is awesome! It's mostly outdoors, the "floor" is sand, they have booths along the water's edge and palm trees all over the place. A real laid back feel to the place. And it was hecka cool to watch little fish jumping out of the water trying to get away from the big bad fish that wanted to eat them. Yeah. I think I'm liking Florida. lawrocket 3 #6 September 16, 2003 This is one of those topics that can have a whole lot of differences. 1) Sport's bar I look for one that, first of all, has a decent television selection. Sometimes I may be one of very few who want to watch a hockey game (California, you know.) Also, come Sunday, they better have the Raider games going. If the selection of beer is good, I'm all for it. 2) Dive bar Sometimes I want to go to a real dive. These are places that have no tap beer. I want a place that doesn't have any college brats or anything. Just a group of people who are interested in nothing else but minding their own business. Maybe it has a pool table. 3) Casual bar This is my favorite. Some place with a good selection of beer and good food in an atmosphere conducive to conversation. No need having music played so loudly that you can't hear anybody talk. Just a relaxing time. O'Malley's in Seal Beach, CA is the essence of this type of bar. Good, simple, brilliant. My wife is hotter than your wife.

diablopilot 2 #12 September 16, 2003 QuoteYeah. I think I'm liking Florida. Uh huh. Looks like all Floridians just ducked at the same time, and a huricane just missed ya'll. To borrow, and paraphrase a line: Hope you don't blow away! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. lawrocket 3 #13 September 16, 2003 I dont' think they have the "around the World" thing. I went to O'Malley's a couple of times a week for the last couple of years until I moved a couple of months ago. I figured I would have known by then. You might be thinking of "The Abbey." That is a 2 minute walk down Main Street. It became well known beause Mark McGuire would always wear their hats, since he was a good friend of the owners. They have a good selection of Belgian beers served in proper stemware. But no place poured Boddignton's Pub Ale like O'Malleys. Simply magnificent. My wife is hotter than your wife. happythoughts 0 #24 September 17, 2003 Quotewhat do you look for in a club, what does it have to have to make it a good place? To be entertained, I go to a comedy club. Over Labor Day weekend, I saw Gary Owens at the Improv. To have a good time in a bar, I stir it up. Get a table, invite people to shoot pool. Tell a joke and demand that everyone else does too. I introduce people that I don't know to others that I don't know. (That is more fun than you know) People who have met me will confirm that I am not that shy. I ask other people about themselves. "Did you have a good weekend?" "That sounds great" "Have you met ..., he/she does ...." "Isn't that cool?"
