billvon 3,120 #5 September 18, 2003 Yep. Right after Qualcomm bought another plane for our CEO (a $14 million jet) the completion center (the place that puts in the interior) dropped it. About a million in damage if I recall.

wmw999 2,592 #16 September 20, 2003 It's so easy to see what went wrong in hindsight. There will be a detailed error analysis done, process changes made, and I'm sure Lockheed will take a hit on their fee for this. Just remember that the people dealing with multi-million dollar satellites are just as human as the ones who hammer nails. A whole lot better trained, and good processes, but trust me, they care about their jobs, and are absolutely sick to their stomachs right now. Not because of the fee or the newspaper stories, but because they'd rather do it right. That said, SHIT!!! Wendy W. (who used to work for Lockheed)There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. bobsled92 0 #17 September 20, 2003 It's going to be alright......the satalite didn't fall ON anyone, right? Other things just fell down too. We are going to be working on our lines for awhile, thanks to the STORM that cut through. that effects more people directly and will be much more $$$ (and present NOAA equipment worked just fine with very good info on the storm) We are greatful to be safe.
