Ladies, would you bear a child for 10,000$?

No I would not! I'm a mom and I carried that baby in me for 9 months. There's a bond there that even dads can't begin to understand. The feeling of that baby move and kick is the most awesome and amazing thing I've ever felt.:)

No way. For one thing I would fear of the attachment during pregnancy that I would get. Two, no ammount of money in the world would tear me part from my two children let alone furture children. I do understand that there are women out there that can't have children and would make great parents, and I trully do feel that they should get a chance, but for me I couldn't bear it emotionally. I know that there are women out there that carry other people's babies for them, but I doubt that they are looking at it as a finacial gain and look to it to be more of a spritual and rewarding thing than anything else.

I would say you may even be right in the majority of cases, but clearly there are some that see it purely in financial terms.

It would be easier if the only option available is ADOPTING. There are plenty already outthere to bring new "experiments".

A friend in FL carried twins for a friend of hers that could not have children. None of the 'material' was hers but entirely the couple she was doing it for. While there was a slight attachment, due to her carrying both for the term, she was able to emotionally disconnect very quickly since they were not biologically hers.

Amy was offered $25,000 for her eggs. She met some specific requirements - doctor, at least X inches tall, athletic, no genetic problems. Sort of eerie that you can sort of 'design' your kids that way.

Bill, I think this really is a serious issue with today's world. Based on money, people with it will be able to engineer their kids to creat a super race, mentally superior to the poorer counter part. When does this stop?

Yes, but a mutant turtle ninja with pig ears, and fish eyes still will be abominable....and probably hard to kill...

I think it's good and bad. Being able to do IVF and ensure that your child does not have Down syndrome, Huntington's disease or cystic fibrosis would be a big plus. Mucking about with a kid's genome to make sure he has blue eyes and doesn't look Indian like his mother would suck. But it's hard to say that you're going to tell parents what they can or can't do with their child's genome; they have to have the final say (IMO.) The idea that parents can mess around with a genome is bad enough; the idea that the government might do the same is worse, I think.

Agreed, but why is is necessary to mess with he genes, Having a babies does not have to be like going to shop for a mercedes or the best whatever your dollars could buy!

Maybe to prevent future problems yes, I agree with you, and then that is only a probability for it to happen.

Govts will try to make armies, regular people will try barbies and kents....
