BASE813 0 #1 September 21, 2003 I am getting a little pissed off with my neck / back pain at the moment. i have visited chiropractors and physio massagers and physios who have cracked me stretched me massaged me and hooked me up to machines and passed electricity through me and blah blah blah - but i still suffer from constant pain, discomfort and occasional spasms!!! has anyone gone through anything similar and how was it rectified (if it was?!). i have stopped jumping for the past 3 weeks as my physio seemed to think regular climbs and slider down deployments may be something to do with it - but even with 2 visits a week and regular exercise and NO JUMPING! it has not progressed to recovery! its fucking me off! I may as well go jump and be in discomfort then not jump and be in discomfort!!! any light at the end of this tunnel??? any ideas where i should look for relief (not that sort of relief "iam"!! )
skybytch 273 #2 September 21, 2003 I know your pain.... My solution for back pain was surgery - 3 vertebrae fused. But my back was really messed up; one disc was totally gone, another was well on it's way out, the surgeon said my spine was very unstable when he got in there. So physical therapy and/or chiropractic wouldn't have worked for me. I kept jumping until I felt the pain in freefall. That's when I knew that I was f&%$ed... My fingers are crossed for ya. Hope it gets better soon. Make 'em kick ya down pain meds if they haven't already; they don't do jack for the pain but at least you won't care quite as much. ypelchat 0 #4 September 22, 2003 Hello Michael; Believe me, i know how you feel. Here's my own little miracle. 6 years ago, I was going through the same problems as you're having now. Neck pain, back pain, my knees hurt, etc. I was litteraly eating anti-inflammatory drugs and multiple pain relievers at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and before I go to bed, etc. I was living in HELL!. I was 35 years old at the time, and felt more like 85. At times, I was so in pain, that I just could not get off my bed, like any normal human being would. I litterally had to roll myself in my bed, then put my hands on the floor, then TRY to get off my bed on to the floor, then get on my knees, and then try to get on my feet. I was walking like a crippled bear..... My spine was "S" shaped......... I knew my chiropractor more than my work colleagues. I said to myself, if this is life, then it's just not worth living............ Then I said to myself, geez, I'm just 35. My life's not over. I MUST do something! I started biking (bicycle). It was awfully painful at first, but I kept biking, and biking, and biking, and biking............... Then I started walking! The first time, just 1 single mile, and I was litterally DEAD, and in pain. But I kept walking, and walking, and walking..... 2 miles. Knees hurt, blisters on my feet. 5 miles. Knees hurt, blisters on my feet. 10 miles.15 miles. New walking shoes and socks, no more pain on the knees, and no more blisters! In the beginning, my goal was to walk for 1 hour, Then 2 hours, then 3 hours, then 4 hours at a time! 3 to 4 times a week............ RADICAL..... YES IT WAS! But I had to do it. The more and more I was biking, and walking, the better I felt........ Yes, it was a radical move, but my pain was radical too...... This has strengthened my back muscles. Less than a month after I started biking and walking, the pain was totally gone Then I started skydiving! I'm 41 now, NO more neck and back pain. It's gone. Absolutely no pain.... It's gone. Not a single minute since then! Hopefully forever...... Biking, and walking, is part of my life now. I know I must bike and walk, to keep my back and neck in shape. My legs and knees are much stronger too! My landings are no big deals anymore, even on a smaller canopy. Life's good again! I hope this works for you, as it worked for me.This is my little miracle. Yves.
KerMor 0 #5 September 22, 2003 I think I know you pain ... been there as well. For me too, the sport helped me a lot: took back swimming. But the best think I did was to find this great Chiropractor. I made up my mind to see one after one morning I was totally blocked in my bed, I could get to the phone to call for help ... I have seen her 6 times 30 min, finished a few weeks back and since then, everything seems to be back to normal. On saturday I got a very bad opening on a canopy I was demoing, the pain was back for a few hour and I though I was back to square one, but to my surprise, the pain faded away. I think I am cured now Best of luck. You can't determine the length of your life - but you can control its height and depth.
