Jessica 0 #1 September 23, 2003 My newspaper ran the following in a wire story: "The Hercules C-130, a U.S. made military cargo plane capable of carrying 124 troops...." A reader called to state it can only carry 68. Anyone know where I can find this out?Skydiving is for cool people only

quade 4 #6 September 23, 2003 The fact sheet listed has just about all the configs you could ever hope to get for several variations of the plane and is pretty definitive as far as press information goes. I don't think that too many readers would question its validity if quoted as a source. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

katiebear21 0 #15 September 24, 2003 QuoteA reader called to state it can only carry 68. Regular Army and Joint Airborne units load 62 fully combat equipped jumpers and 2 safeties for a total of 64 for all training operations. We load 1-3 outboard, 4-27 inboard, 28-31 outboard. That makes for a tight fit. Loadmaster and safety either sit on the ramp or squeeze in before the first jumper/jumpmaster. When we jump for proficiency (fun jump) we still only load 64 passengers. Quade's probably got the right info on the aircraft's capabilities during combat. Damn, I didn't even have to look that up! Guess I did remember something from JM School!
