I have one too. Deliberately -- I'd spend even more time postwhoring if it weren't frustrating, after all :S

I'm on cable at home, although I am trying to get wireless at my house. This local company offers T1 speeds up AND down and burstable 6-8 Mbits/sec. Wooop!!

Wireless T3 at work ......B|

You're getting 45Mbps?:o:S Check this speedtest site:

http://home.cfl.rr.com/eaa/Bandwidth.htm

I don't think the wireless standards in an 802.xx environment support speeds that high yet...I may be wrong...

Wow....work is smokin!

running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 2.27Mb/s
running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 8.88Mb/s

and

Your download speed : 13254188 bps, or 13254 kbps.
A 1617.9 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 3916449 bps, or 3916 kbps.

God, I wish I had this at home.

Quite honestly, I think I am limited by the other end.

Watch out Matt. Have you talked to people who use the same service from the same provider. My co worker has a wireless setup from sprint. His speed are all over place down to 2kilobytes up to 300kilobytes. And his latency is horrible, worse then dial up. As bad as 1 - 2 seconds. He can't even think of playing online games or accessing remote machines. Needless to say he is not satisfied. Locked in a contract an everything.

It's about $100+/month. My roomie and I are bandwidth addicts, so it's not a problem. Check em out for yourself.... Tell em Matt Almgren sent you and maybe they'll give me some kickbacks...

Actually 802.11a can support 72 mpbs and Dual Band wireless connections can support up to 108 mbps!! The average speeds that you'll typically get are lower however.

See here for more info.

We're talking about a campus style environment right? The real bottleneck then is the actual premise connection to the internet? (i.e. A 11Mpbs WLAN with a single T1 to the Internet is indeed getting 1.544Mbps)

That's why I was curious about Lisa's post about a T3 at work. A dropzone with a T3...I'm stunned! They ain't cheap, require a fiber handoff and wow...

Actually, there is a guy here at work who has this service and he report speeds consistent between 6 and 8 Mb/s. He is about 1/4 mile from one of the repeaters tho, but they can reach 10-15 miles. I'm about 8.5 from one and 6 something from the other but trees block the way.

And with a 30day money back guarantee... I can't see the harm in giving it a try. And.. Sprint Sucks ass. Anybody who knows something about a WISP knows that. They stopped taking customers over a year ago due to too many complaints cause their infrastructure sucks. I actually spoke to the guy that started the company and he filled me in on some of his business plans. For the residential, they have a 20:1 ratio, then SOHO is 10:1 and Business is 3:1 or less.
