freeflybella 0 #1 September 22, 2003 If you haven't seen it - rent it. It's a documentary about a group of people who lived in the train tunnels under NYC. Won a number of Indie awards including 3 from Sundance 2000. Make sure to watch the Special Feature - 'The Making of...' That part is incredible! Deeply fascinating. Vertifly 0 #2 September 22, 2003 Yeah! It's pretty crazy. I watched it this past weekend. It will be strange the next time I visit NYC and then think about the underworld. Mark really rocked that one. I wonder if he'll make any more flicks soon. ???
sarge 0 #3 September 23, 2003 Ok I was game for some 'reality' documentary, but I called blockbuster and they don't carry it. They'll order it for me for $25.00. sounds kinda interesting,,, but not enough for $25.00 - guess its another night of "Biker Boyz"-- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!! Vertifly 0 #4 September 23, 2003 If you are ever around Crosskeys, just ask Mark (the producer/director). He may just slip one to you under his arm.
freeflybella 0 #5 September 23, 2003 NO!!! Find an indie video place, they'll have it, I swear. NOT to be missed. The film itself is wonderful - humanizes a population that has become unhuman to so many. But, honestly, the "Making of..." will lift you spiritually. For me, I felt proud to be human. Edited: and you'll see, it's not about $. (Marc is who he is - and although I don't know him very well, not at all trying to 'promote' his film.) It's not about commercialism - it's about humanity. If you can't find it now, remember the name and find it some other time. It's a jewel - you'll be proud to have 'stumbled' upon it later. sarge 0 #6 September 23, 2003 Ok then, maybe I'll just call him myself: do I just ask for Marc, you know the guy that did that documentary about the under-city subculture... does he have a website or e-mail? I have never been about taking food off anybodys table, but if hes the most direct route to the flick, then I'm open to seeing the $$ go in his pocket instead of all the middle-men, you know? Thanks-- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!
freeflybella 0 #7 September 25, 2003 If you can't get it at a local video shop (BB sucks), you can buy it online for like $10. Or get in on NetFlix. Check out some reviews - you'll see. It's really worth it. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
