lawrocket 3 #1 September 25, 2003 My day today is all screwed up. I went and purchased the board game Risk, since my English buddy was in town and we were bored. Sweet Jesus. We were pissed off the whole time. I was up till 3:30 playing that game. The swearing, the cussing, everything, and I'm not the type to lose it like that. I thought our friendship was at stake during that game, and I ended up losing it (I had some horrible rolls of the dice). I've never known of a board game that can cause this sort of emotional response. But Risk - dang. This game just brought out the worst in us. I'm thinking of inviting some more people over to join in. It seems to be a "the more the merrier" sort of game. Maybe bring in a couple of gals (nobody scraps like chicks) and see what happens. Start a little war right in my apartment. Spread hate and discontent, if you will. Was our response typical of this game? Do most people blow it like that? If so, I love it! I actually figure with more people, alliances and screwing over might form a good backdrop for more knavery. We play again tonight. I'm gonna kil that twat!!! My wife is hotter than your wife. kingbunky 3 #2 September 25, 2003 it has that effect on me... dunno why though, it's just a game! it might have to do with the fact that it's a mental, strategic game on one hand, and totally random on the other. you can have all your armies in place, a plan to sweep the map clean, a seemingly unsurmountable number of troops, then get your ass kicked because the dice roll against you. or maybe you just suck at it! Blahr 0 #3 September 25, 2003 I havent played in a long time. Years actually, but I have seen people get absolutely furious with each other while playing this game. Not unusual, if you ask me. I guess world domination has this affect on people

kiltboy 0 #5 September 25, 2003 Two other fun ones are Diplomacy and Junta. Diplomacy does involve making alliances and screwing people over as no dice rolling is involved. Junta is set in a banana republic with el presidente that dolls out the money. Aim of the game is to get as much cash as possible but you can form alliances assasinate other players, have revolutions etc. to become el presidente. Then you screw the alliance over, don't give them money and assasinate them until they giet pissed and the cycle starts again. All good clean fun. lawrocket 3 #6 September 25, 2003 Yeah, maybe I do just suck at it. But, I thought I had something fairly well set up and prepared to sweep from Africa to South America through North America, and lost all my troops in 5 rolls of the dice. 10 troops gone, and he lost one. Asshole. Any strategy tips from you experienced folks? Come on. I need strategy help!!!! My wife is hotter than your wife.
kingbunky 3 #7 September 25, 2003 i always try to get the australian continent first, one way in, one way out, 2 bonus troops every turn! near the beginning of the game, i try to take one territory (and get the card) on each turn, then retreat to a safe corner, or advance as many troops as i can to reinforce my new position... other than that, pray to the dice gods, they can screw the best strategy."Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." jimmytavino 16 #11 September 25, 2003 [reply) Any strategy tips from you experienced folks? Come on. I need strategy help!!!! hahaha great ( but aggravating ) Game!!!! ...Kramer, ( on the subway ) " the UKraine is WEAK !!)..... Some HUGE Russian guy standing next to him.... " The Ukraine is NOT weak"!!!!!!!!!.. .... anyway,,, strategy,,,, 1. always battle somewhere,,, and take just one country,,, cause you NEED to get those cards... 2.. then STOP!!!!! 3.. It is always better to be the attacked..... and NOT the attacker,,,, since ties go to the defender,, not the attacker.... 4. try to attack with more than 4 armies,,, since you then get to throw all 3 dies....BUT be prepared to take a beating... 5... If you think you have enough armies,,,, you DON'T..... hmmmmm any more strategy.... strategy,,, HEY Stratego...!!!hahahaha... that's another good one!!!!!!...but lets not go there!!!!.. sunshine 2 #13 September 25, 2003 I only played the game a few times, but i never had any nasty arguments. I am a very passive person though, and i realize it's just a game. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! Aromain 0 #16 September 25, 2003 f-that game...it f'n sucks soooo bad! I turn into such an a-hole playing that game, monopoly too! The dice fucks you then you look at your "opponent" in the eyes and think what a prick he or she (when its my mom) is for continually fucking you in the ass with those dice. When you have 3 dice and they only have one and laugh as they kick your ass multiple times in a row. Look I'm turning into an asshole just THINKING about the stupid game.------------------------------------------------ "Matter fact go and get your chrome, cause I'd rather be, broke thogether, then rich alone."
