MochaSkyChick 0 #1 September 25, 2003 Have you ever got a lump in your through when showing up at a new dropzone where you don’t know anyone, wondering how they’ll react to you; friendly, rude, etc? I was a little bored and just got to thinking about this since I try to visit as many DZ as possible. I’ve gotten different reaction from different DZs and was just wondering if anyone else got a minor case of the nerves when jumping somewhere new. WFFC 1 #2 September 25, 2003 in my travels, I've found that the smaller dzs are much more open to accepting someone new. The larger ones sometimes are full of cliques and no one of them will even give you the time of day if you approach. Now, if you know someone at the DZ and they introduce you, that totally removes all the stigma.
juanesky 0 #3 September 25, 2003 Yep, most of the time, it takes time to get situated, check the winds, study the map, see what others are doing, etc..... There has only been one and only one DZ where I've have felt the people in there were obnoscious. Not the stuff, fun jumpers. But hey, take a few to see your surroundings before gearing up and jumping, it does make a difference!"According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
Casie 0 #4 September 25, 2003 Couldn't have said it better! It's kinda like going anywhere or doing anything new & by yourself!~Porn Kitty WARNING: Goldschlager causes extreme emotional outbursts!
MochaSkyChick 0 #5 September 25, 2003 I was thinking more of people rather than landing area etc, although that does come into consideration. It's just something that has been on my mind because I've noticed at some DZs (Well really only one so far) I got the feeling I wasn't so welcomed. juanesky 0 #6 September 25, 2003 It has happened to me only once. I don't think that as in anything else in life, absolute rule of thumb applies. Many big DZ do welcome newbies, foreigners, etc. But yes, ther has been only one and only one so far, were people were way stuck up....(not the staff). PM me and we can exchange the stories..."According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
flyangel2 2 #7 September 25, 2003 Oh, poor Michael. I know the story behind his visit to a new DZ. I say you head on out there and give it another try. Afterall; you are the great, the only WFFC For me, I've never had a problem going to a different DZ. skymama 37 #10 September 25, 2003 I won't go to a new drop zone unless I already know someone who is going to be there. I'm really just a shy girl. I love going to new DZs even when I'm alone (which is most of the time) and I can sometimes be totally shy. I just hate when you are like, "Hey, how are ya? Wanna jump?" and you get the major brush off. (Once again, I've really only experienced this once) PMS #62 Zarza R[red

Skymonkey13 0 #14 September 25, 2003 I think it can be a little intimidating when you don't know anyone. Sometimes when you ask someone if they want to do a fun jump, they want to give you the 3rd degree about, how many jumps do you have, and what can you do? I'm like, well, i have a D license, so i think i should be able to do a fun jump. But after you make a jump with someone, they all seem to lighten up. GiaKrembs 0 #15 September 25, 2003 I fear Perris. flyangel2 2 #17 September 26, 2003 Quotedon't know why, but I get a freaky vibe whenever I go there. I sure know that feeling, there is a DZ here in Colorado that I get that feeling just driving by it. But, I plan to over come that, and make a jump there. You should really try Perris, a great place to jump. I try to make it out there as often as possible. Hey wait, I'm going there next week.
