skybytch 273 #4 September 30, 2003 My fav is tri tip. Dunno if you have to be from California to know what that is... but it's the bombdiggety when it's cooked over an oak fire. I think it's sometimes called Santa Maria style bbq too. If I can't have tri tip, gimme a nice juicy filet mignon...
yardhippie 0 #5 September 30, 2003 fillet, bacon wrapped, cut to your specs while you watch. then a quick dip in Dales marinade, and grilled to medium, medium rare... yummie! lizzieb 0 #6 September 30, 2003 filet mignon...medium rare... peppercorn crusted, or with a bernaise sauce...mmm mmm good
freeflygoddess 0 #7 September 30, 2003 Mignon...well done...why because it is small and that is all the red meat I can possiably eat. Cooked over mesquite chips in the grill...with lots of spices and some horseradish sauce stuff to dip it in...and a baked potatoe and some sort of veggie...oh yeah and sauteed shrooms. but shrooms are good with all meals... Amazon 7 #9 September 30, 2003 Prime Rib.. not on the list... but Thick Cut....mmmmm that is how I prefer my massive quantities of dead animal parts...oh.. pink in the middle.. seared on the outside. Jeanne
jfields 0 #10 September 30, 2003 I usually go for Strip or Ribeye. I think they have more flavor than the filets. Definitely grilled. None of that broiling nonsense for me. I would be a charcoal snob, but I'm too lazy.

Jeanne NO no, this is a steak thread. Now we could start a favorite massive quantity of dead animals thread...hummmmm just fyi, mine would be a whole hog, smoked for about 24 hrs w/ hickory and mesquite, spiced to perfection. oooops, abort hijack, abort hijack... Clownburner 0 #12 September 30, 2003 Why would you cook it? I like my filet seared over a grill, but still cold in the middle. Mmmmmm...7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth
jfields 0 #13 September 30, 2003 Exactly! It is almost like somebody answering "hamburger". I like them too, but they aren't steaks! Start a non-steak dead cow thread.
lawrocket 3 #14 September 30, 2003 Man, oh man! You just gotta try a "culotte" steak if you ever get the chance. It's taken from a portion of the top sirloin, and only two of these flavorful and boneless cuts are on each cow. Good stuff... My wife is hotter than your wife. I think it's cut from the side. Really really juicy and tender, but not the most attractive cut of meat (long and thin) so not sold that much up here...but damn, it's good. EricaH 0 #17 September 30, 2003 Mmmmm porterhouse, best of both worlds. Filet on one side o the bone & a NY strip on the other - grilled to a nice tender medium rare please!! no sauces needed. mmmmooooo mmmmooooo. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Brains 2 #18 September 30, 2003 Porterhouse is my favorite. Best of everything, strip on one side, and filet(minus the bacon of course) on the other. BONUS: who can tell me the difference between: porterhouse and t-bone ribeye and strip filet mignon and tenderloin Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you. ranchhand28 0 #19 September 30, 2003 Til you have a good round of Brazilian barbecue, you won't know! The best sirloin ever (except the cut is totally different than the American style).
sunshine 2 #20 September 30, 2003 Whatever someone else cooks or buys for me is my favorite. I'm all about the free food. Edited to add, i had some ribeye on the grill a few weeks ago. I was at someone's house and he made dinner. Yummy!!! ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
lawrocket 3 #21 September 30, 2003 Nope, not the same thing. A culotte is triangular, following the shape of the muscle. But I'd sure like to try your suggestion out. My wife is hotter than your wife.

turtlespeed 226 #23 September 30, 2003 QuoteWhich is your favorite? What method do you use to cook it (broil, grill, etc.)? Cross posted from the dead animal thread... Money saving tip: Buy a large porterhouse steak - Remove bone from both cuts of meat and voila you now have a fillet minon and a new york strip. The Strip for you, and the fillet for the pretty lady that you invited over so you could impress her with your cooking. Wrap the filet in bacon and set at the back of the grill so that it cooks slower than the strip. Yummy! If you are lucky, she'll give you a bite.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
