Let's bring up more 25 year old stuff

Recommended Posts

25 year old quotes are being brought up against Arnold, which actually don't seem to be substantiated. Arnold's activities never resulted in the deaths of almost a thousand people.

Gray Davis and Cruz Bustamante had nothing to do with this. I know. But, some poewrful leaders did. So let's bring up some of the California liberal elite (yes, some dead) to see a big skeleton in their closets. Yes, Jim Jones, who helped get a bunch of them elected (it's easy to look te other way when that occurs.)

This time against some liberals, like Willie Brown, Jerry Brown, George Moscone, Walter Mondale, Jimmy Carter, Ron Dellums, Bella Abzug and Hubert Humphrey.

Liberal Quotes About Jim Jones

Said current San Francisco, and former Assembly honcho Mayor Willie Brown: "I have had the great pleasure of knowing a leader with tremendous character and integrity. . . Rev. Jones is regarded among government officials, civic and religious leaders, and particularly the black community and working class people, with utter respect for what he has done to upgrade the quality of life in our area and to bring greater health and well-being to thousands of poor, minority, and disadvantaged people."

"Ninety-nine percent of all the work done by People's Temple is in the service of the elderly, poor families, and troubled youth. . . It is most unfortunate that some people. . . feel threatened by this simple organization and philosophy of service." - Art Agnos

"Timothy and Grace Stoen, the parties that have been attempting to damage Rev. Jones' reputation, and seriously disrupt the life of his son, John, have already been discredited by the news media here." - Harvey Milk

"Jim Jones is a rare, rare specimen. Jim Jones is a symbol of what we all ought to be about. . . Jim Jones is, in my opinion, a true human being." - Willie Brown, Jr.

"Mayor George Moscone said yesterday that his office will not conduct any investigation into allegations that have been made about Rev. Jim Jones. . ." - July 27, 1977

Sen. Hubert Humphrey said that "The work of Reverend Jones and his congregation is a testimony to the positive and truly Christian

Joseph Califano, secretary of HEW, praised his "commitment and compassion, your humanitarian principles . . . furthering the cause of human dignity."

"Let me present to you what you should see every day when you look in the mirror in the early morning hours...Let me present to you a combination of Martin King, Angela Davis, Albert Einstein, Chairman Mao." Willie Brown, Jr.

On September 25, 1976, assemblyman Willie Brown, Mervyn Dymally, George Moscone, Angela Davis, San Francisco Chronicle city editor Steve Gavin, and leftist lawyers Charles Garry and Vincent Hallinan joined many other luminaries in a tribute to Jones, who received approval from the state senate and San Francisco board of supervisors.

Mayor George Moscone appointed him to the city’s Housing Authority on October 18, 1976.

"I also recommit myself to your congregation as an active and full participant, not only for myself but because I want my two children to have the experience." - Jane Fonda to Jim Jones

In the fall of 1976, at the dedication of Carter-Mondale headquarters, Jones gained a place on the platform with Rosalyn Carter, who sent a letter to Jones thanking him for his views on Cuba.

District Attorney Joseph Frietas appointed Jones attorney Tim Stoen to investigate allegations of election fraud in Moscone's election even though members of the People's Temple were among the prime suspects. Note that Tim Stoen was a member of Jim Jones' temple, and that jim Jones is credited with the voter fraud in 1975 that gave the 5,000 swing to Geroge Moscone. Hmmm.... Note that DA Freitus caused the registrar to destroy the 1975 election records in Feb. 1978.

"Jonestown was a tragedy of the first order, and it remains a painful and sorrowful event in our history. Not a year has gone by that I have not stopped to remember San Francisco's terrible loss.'' - Willie Brown, Jr. in 1998 (or your role in it, Willie?)

"If we knew then he was mad, clearly we wouldn't have appeared with him. But it's not fair to say what you would have done if you knew the kind of madness that would take place years later.'' - Willie Brown (after reports of his abuses started in SF in 1972?)

"There wasn't anything magical about Jim's power. It was raw politics. He was able to deliver what politicians want, which is power. And how do you get power? By votes. And how do you get votes? With people. Jim Jones could produce 3,000 people at a political event.'' - Tim Stoen (makes you wonder why the politicians loved him so much, eh?)

Agar Jaicks, Chairman of the county Democratic Central Committee seemed to agree with Stoen's assessment when he said, "What you had here was a ready-made volunteer workforce and he was very strong here was a guy who could provide workers for causes.'' (Guess why SF leadership didn't investigate complaints against his abuses)

1976 - Jerry Brown seen at Jim Jones mass.

1978 - One Democrat, Congressman Leo Ryan, decides to do something about Jones and his hostages in Guyana. He gets murdered.

What an interesting story about 8 retired or deceased politicians. It seems they all accepted support from a man who as far as anyone knows hadn't done anything wrong at the time.

I can see why this is being linked with an actor who is currently running for high office and apparently admires a warmongering, mass murdering tyrant.

You.... you.... liberal.

You are taking the fun out of all the fun poking the conservatives are doing.

Come on now.

What are we going to do next, assume people are innocent until proven guilty or something?

Actually, Willie Brown and Jerry Brown are far from retired.

And the fact is that they outright ignored the complaints that were running since 1972.

It's ridiculous to bring up this stuff from 25 years ago, isn't it?

THat's my point.
