Michele 1 #27 October 6, 2003 0:4:at least 3 Beer owed for first attempt at a hybrid....shoulda known it was going to funnel. JTVal had to fly belly until stable (which just didn't happen). Yeah, that's it. Right, Clownburner? JT puts the FUN in funnel, though. It was a seriously fun jump! Beer also owed for a most wonderful sunset jump today... 6 chicks from Alaska, Laurel and I built an 8way round which actually held for about 2 seconds (I have to stop getting startled when people break grips...yes, it was all my fault when it flew apart!)...and not only are we now proud Pink Mafia inductees, we got the Tiny Broderick Memorial too. So many DZ.commers met and played with, a most wonderful boogie where no-one got seriously hurt, and a ton learned. And 3 of the 4 jumps were landed on my feet, and I almost managed the 4th on my feet...but they didn't move quite fast enough! Not bad for having nearly 2 months off...it has been such a very long time since I've had a few days this freeing and joyous. Not to mention I got to meet Wendy (well, again, but this time we spent some time together) and Mary Santangelo. Those two chicks just rock. indyz 1 #31 October 6, 2003 0:5:0 4 RW jumps, from 2 to 5 ways, all good fun. 1 CRW jump. We landed in a pasture miles from the DZ, but at least I learned a valuable lesson about spotting CRW loads in very strong upper winds.

craichead 0 #34 October 6, 2003 : 3 : I might as well buy a pallet! Did an RW coach jump, a hop 'n' pop (from a ridiculous altitude of 8,000' because I think the pilot forgot), and a jump with the love of my life! Yeah, so tons of beer owed: 1. Finally completed requirements for A License and faxed in application 2. First time jumping my new Gunner helmet (I LOVE this helmet!) 3. First time jumping my ProTrack that AndyMan got me for Xmas last year (Average speed, 135...I really do fall like a homesick anvil! Note to self--next thing to learn: flying flat.) 4. First jump with my Luv 5. First kiss pass I'm sure there are more reasons for beer somewhere! That's all I can think of at 6:30 in the morning. -P__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
Dumpster 0 #35 October 6, 2003 1:3:0 1 Static Line FJC sat in on in preparation for my Coach rating - Will try teaching in the following weeks - 3 jumps - all RW - Saturday - Spent Sunday putting stuff away and getting the yard ready for winter - Time to get a stack or two of firewood in for those nice toasty fires this winter. And I should be getting ready to start brewing some more beer, too. Easy Does It

Saturday started kinda slow... 4 way/3 pts., vid of a three way (just for fun), BEACH JUMP! Sunday got busy. Taught refresher course in the morning, did two coach jumps and finished off with a tandem (could have used a little breeze) Highlight of the weekend was a semi-cross country onto the beach. Uppers were moving, so we exited WAYYYY out over our normal spot. Sweet landing! Met some new jumpers (new to our zone) and had an awesome tandem student (screamer) on Sunday. Another sweeeet weekend is posted in the record books. Already looking forward to sunrise and sunset tandems scheduled for next weekend. Let's pray the weather will cooperate. 0 - no beer owed. I did it that way at the 10-way speed comp at Quincy a few years ago. Linked exits were ok and there were sequential points set up. For each additional point, you could take a second off your time. The first place team was taking a sub-second chunk out and turning 7 points. Our 2nd place team did well, but was not even close to their score. They changed the rules back to no-show, no-grips. Personally, I do a lot of chunked exits, but I prefer the no-grips rule in 10-way speed. Of course, I'm also a dinosaur that believes that a single file runout from a DC-3 is the only way to do 10-way speed.
