SKYDIVER JOAN MURRAY IN THE NEW DISCOVERY CHANNEL SERIES - VITAL SCAN

www.vitalscan.tv

Silver Spring, MD (September, 2003) – BrainBox Productions Inc., a Silver Spring based Production Company, explores incredible stories of traumatic injury in the new original series Vital Scan – premiering on October 10, 17 and 24, 2003. Our bodies -- exquisitely equipped to deal with a dangerous world. But sometimes the danger overwhelms. Chris Houser, Trevor Snowden, and Joan Murray suffered sudden, life-threatening catastrophes. But they didn’t suffer alone. Rushing to their aid was a full complement of medical technology, fast-thinking friends, and near-perfect timing.

Our bodies possess enormous healing powers. And when something is truly lost, medically and mentally we somehow find ways to adapt.

On September 25th, 1999, bank executive and skydiver Joan Murray hit the ground at nearly 80 mph. She shattered her pelvis and landed in a bed of fire ants. Rushed to the hospital, physicians were able to put her body back together. Today, a stiff elbow is the only outward sign of her near disaster. A year and a half after her crushing accident, Joan stepped out of an airplane for one last, celebratory dive.

Vital Scan, Episode 3 also features the stories of Baltimore City police officer, Chris Houser, who was gunned down during undercover drug bust, and Trevor Snowden, former pro snowboarder turned paraplegic mountain bike madman. Each episode of Vital Scan unfolds with first hand accounts, dramatic recreations, archive footage and exciting 3D animation.

“Vital Scan is more than an interesting medical show. It is a powerful hour of human stories and amazing life experiences,” said series producer Travis Gray.

Episodes one and two of the series tell the stories of:

· Travis Pastrana - another X-Game phenomena who landed short on a 120-foot jump. The impact forced his spine downward and apart from his pelvis.

· Jack Roush – NASCAR mogul whose near death plane crash resulted in an heroic rescue. Interview Mark Martin.

· Maryland Police Officer – head split open when a steel hook from a tow truck ricocheted into his head.

· Mat Hoffman – BMX legend who lost his spleen, and almost his life, after a 46 foot freefall on his bicycle. Interview Tony Hawk.

· Rock climber – a moment of miscommunication sent him plummeting nine stories off a rock face.

· Lindsay Thomas – 18 year-old woman trapped in her car for 5 days after falling asleep at the wheel.
