CanuckInUSA 0 #4 October 8, 2003 For American citizens, the answer is "no" for both questions. But because you're talking of visiting Canada, I'll be sending out an A.P.B. to intercept you at the border (you know to protect the few sheep that there are in Canada). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
Snowbird 0 #5 October 9, 2003 A passport would help make things quicker and more convenient, but I haven't heard of it being required. Make sure you have your ID and you should be fine. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
Marz 0 #6 October 9, 2003 I would reccommend that you have your passport handy... The rules have gotten quite a bit tighter since 9/11. I know that a passport is now required to fly to the US for Canadian citizens. I don't know if it's the same for Americans. Where you going anyways? Cheers Marz

Remster 30 #9 October 9, 2003 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/offices/missions/los-angeles.html Give em a call and find out.... You may be OK with the other ID, but it would have to be citizenship and birth reg. Also, you may want to check with teh US immigration as they may make it difficult for you to get back in too...Remster

mailin 0 #12 October 9, 2003 I drive up to Montreal all the time - 11 times since 9/11 They look at my license, ask me a bunch of questions and send me on my way. Getting back in is a little more involved. They've searched my car with mirrors and dogs before. not bad though - just a few minutes wait. Good luck - enjoy your trip! Guest #14 October 9, 2003 Passport or birth certificate. A driver's license is insufficient. The passport doesn't have to be current. mh ps - Stop by Seattle if you decide to drive, or let me know if I can meet you in Vancouver.
