Gonna have to downsize soon...

Recommended Posts

I've lost 22 pounds since changing my eating/exercise ways about 6 weeks ago. As hungry as I am right now, I figured maybe bragging would help keep me away from the box of chocolate bars someone here at the office is selling for their kids. Right now it's SCREAMING my name from over by the microwave/coffee pot area! :)

Congrats! As long as you are happy with yourself that is. I know too many people that lose weight for the wrong reasons. Girls more so then men. I don't want to lose wieght I want to tone up more, which in reality I probably will gain muscle, causeing me to gain wieght, but I will be firmer and that will please me.

Congratulations David! I've lost 6.. 20 to go..:S

Hey, you're about a quarter of the way there. I'd like to lose another 30, with the expectation that I'll gain about 10 when I settle into a more "reasonable" program. That'll still leave me at 175ish which is a fairly healthy weight for me (I was 218 in August). If I can hold that for 6 months, I might finally make a stab at an AFF rating next fall.

Yeah, I want to for the right reasons...i.e. to not be a fat bastard anymore. :)

22 lbs in 6 weeks is a lot of weight... are you using any particular method?

nothing wrong with the occasional chocolate bar... as long as its just an OCCASIONAL chocolate bar. I'll usually split something like that with a friend or colleague.

Congrats on the weight loss!

I hear ya. I had to have the legpads on my container shortened after losing 20-ish pounds since I got it. It's flat amazing how good I've gotten at landing my main - if I wasn't worried that I'll put the pounds back on I'd have already downsized. ;)

Nothing that has a name that I know of, just cutting calories way back and exercising more. Basically I allow myself one "real meal" a day, though I try to keep it sensible. That's usually lunch. I also have a no-goodies salad a day with sour cream/salsa as dressing (30 cal/2 tbsp serving) and occasionally splurge with a little chicken and/or avocado thrown in. I've also cut way back on alcohol intake. On the other end of the equation (burning calories), I run stairs at a football stadium for 30 minutes each evening (that's a calorie-burning mother of a workout) and walk 3-4 miles/day.

I talked about splitting one with a friend/co-worker who's also losing weight, but we decided we didn't need it, and that it would probably be a mere shadow of real, dark chocolate with red wine that would taste so much better. ;)

Congratulations! I too have been working on losing weight, about 6 weeks ago I was 275lbs now I'm hovering around 245-250. I'm gonna kick it up a notch soon. I was walking about 4 miles every other night, but I'm gonna start doing it every night. And I'm going to the gym every other day now. I need to get a scale that does body fat analysis but I can't afford it right now. But with combined weight lifting and cardio exercise, body fat is really the only way to gauge the progress you're making.

Nothing wrong with having a little snack every once in a while, but make sure it's worth it :)

Nice job! I remember you posting what you were hoping to accomplish and how you intended to go about it, and have to admit I was a bit skeptical that walking alone would have that big an effect. Looks like you're proving me wrong. Congrats!

I've gone from 270 to 238 this summer just by watching what I eat. I was working out when I was unemployed, but since I started my job, I haven't had the time.
