sundevil777 102 #1 October 12, 2003 I'm not a fan of Pedro, but Don was going after him! Looked like a pretty gentle shove to deflect an old man on an intentional collision course. Do you agree, or is it possible that I still angry at the Red Sox for bumping the Mariners out of the playoffs?People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
slotperfect 7 #2 October 12, 2003 I am a Red Sox fan, and I do think that Pedro has a temper, but looking at the video he was defending himself. Don Zimmer bit off more than he could chew. Arrive Safely John
storm1977 0 #3 October 12, 2003 Pedro had every right to BEAT Zim down and he didn't. People in NY are calling Pedro a Monster etc... I saw it too... Zimmer went after pEDRO RIGHT? pEDRO DID NOT punch him, he deflected him to the side. I say Fuck the old man. (not literally) Don't feel bad for Zim. If he had a heart attack and croaked right there on the field he wouldn't get my sympathy. If your gonna play with fire... you may get burned. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
slotperfect 7 #4 October 13, 2003 I saw the video of DOn Zimmer's apology via the press this morning. I experienced him as being genuinely sorry and humble. He is clear with me; I hope others see him the same way. Arrive Safely John
quatorze 1 #5 October 13, 2003 please come run at me with malice in your heart 7 or 77 you are going to get put down, not violently put with enough authority to clear up the decision in your head that maybe that is not the best thing to do. Old boy wanted some, got some, found out he didn't like the taste. But Pedro was faced with that old paradox, fight an old guy and win, "Monster how could you beat up an old man?" Fight an old guy and lose, " Dude you got your ass kicked by an old guy" No win situation I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
aero04 0 #6 October 13, 2003 That video has got to be the funniest thing I've seen in baseball in awhile. However, that was a sincere apology. Looks like Zimmer just acted without thinking first.
quatorze 1 #7 October 13, 2003 oh, I agree with the heat of the moment but that does not make him a saint and P a monster, glad he was big enough to apologize but he did it, it happened and as we see so much in our sports figures they do really dumb things in " the heat of the moment" and then apologize and we just say "Oh they apologized, they must be OK" Would we as just lowly peons get that same treatment? No, Zim got what he went looking for, he is just lucky that he didn't wind up in a head lock getting pounded a la Nolan Ryan I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
aero04 0 #8 October 13, 2003 hey, my post wasn't in reply to you, i just clicked on the last post in the thread. I never said what he did was ok. I never said anything about saints or monsters. I just said it was a damn funny video and it looks like he acted without thinking. I do agree with you though that sports figures do get special treatment when they do really boneheaded things. FlyboySMB 0 #9 October 13, 2003 Zimmer has got as much fire in his gut as the rest of them, just not the age or body to back it up. Thos in the "know" have no problem with either involved. On another note, I think the AL should get rid of the DH, so cocky pricks like Martinez & Clemmens have to FACE 90+ MPH fast balls at their head, back etc. That would cure both of them of their occasional "control" problems. Thoughts? Steve
storm1977 0 #10 October 14, 2003 Zimmer is a pussy... crying like a little bitch.. If it bothered you sooo much you fat bastard then maybe you shouldn't have charged. I am so sick of F'ing NY sports radio defending Zim and Putting down Pedro. They keep saying Zim did it in the "Heat of the Moment" But Pedro didn't have to throw him down etc... Did anyone ever think Pedro threw him down in "The Heat of the Moment?" If Pedro didn't do anything, and ZIM made contact with Pedro's face... Trust me, 35,000 Fans would have rushed the field and killed Zim and maybe half of the other SPANKEE'S on the field. I would have paid to see that though ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
