DSE 5 #51 June 27, 2011 Coupla thoughts... With today's tech...why not add a BlueTooth component to the AAD that allows the user to put their iPhone or Droid on the mudflap, with an app to control opening altitude on the AAD. Might as well put a visual altimeter in the smartphone. That way folks can see their altitude, listen to their tunes, answer their phones, and control the AAD from one device. Obviously, I'm kidding. However...what downside would there be for manufacturers if users had the option to shift the opening altitude in an upward-only direction, with a 14 hour reset (when the unit powers down)? diablopilot 2 #52 June 27, 2011 Quote Noooo!!, because then you will need to set up higuer the main opening altitude and the airplane jumping altitude, and the jump price increase, or you think people will short their jumps because the manufacturers make super tight containers, and defective gear. I vote also to not use AAD and play more responsibility skydiving choosing your load partners, opening at the right altitude, wearing the correct reserve size for the container we use, etc, etc. Nico Where is the "Like" button? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. nebug 0 #53 June 27, 2011 QuoteAt some point, especially if reserve activation altitude is increased, it might seem more appropriate to put the AAD on the main. Then the activation altitude would be raised up to main opening heights. In a real emergency all that extra height could be very handy. It would have to work a little differently than the units today. I would hate to give up BOC pilotchutes. I had way too many PC hesitations back in the day. (I got slammed once when a PC hesitation on a rings and ropes Stratocloud packed for low speed opened at terminal.- Yeah, I was asleep at the switch on that jump.)
