SkydiveNFlorida 0 #51 October 20, 2003 QuoteQuoteI think most month I average about $800.00 to $1000.00 per month just packing on weekends. The few packers we have at Raeford make anywhere to 3-4K a month packing for the school and/or the knights. We can't get enough packers here, so for all you packers looking to make the $$ might want to make a call. Damn! I'm in the wrong business!! I pack for myself. Getting better every weekend:) At first I was much happier having packers to do it. But, as i'm becoming more in touch with my gear, I kind of like the responsibility. Plus, if it opens funny, I can think what I did on the pack. Just like sometimes i'll pack and say, "hmm, this might open funny", then it does or doesn't and that governs my next pack job. In the end, if it were free, I wouldn't pack it, but for the $$, I can get another jump at the end of the day or some beer:) Angela.

jumpinjackflash 0 #55 October 21, 2003 SHIT!!!!! Gotta tell you, there is alot of crap on this site, much of it what comes out of my mouth!!! (newbies create crap, but hey we try!!!) However, this is good shit. Great details on the mal and what caused it. I'll keep it in mind when I'm strappin on my rig. Definitly a little commercial for "why jump suites are designed to jump". Wow, little loop, big malfunction, glad your still around. JackIt's a gas, gas, gas...
JohnMitchell 16 #56 October 21, 2003 Do you know how to pack? I thought that was required to get off student status. Maybe not anymore. You should know how to do it, just in case.
KerMor 0 #57 October 21, 2003 I let only once someone else touch my main (because of a serious lack of food), and that was my first and only malfunction (lineover spinning mal) Now, I am one of these lucky person that really do not mind packing I pack for myself and others, for money or for beer. I hate seeing people struggling with their parachute and miss a load because of it. My first home DZ had a huge sign in the hangar saying : YOU JUMP IT, YOU PACK IT. You can't determine the length of your life - but you can control its height and depth.
AggieDave 6 #58 October 21, 2003 QuoteI'll keep paying the nice people to do it for me. Now that I'm not a packer anymore (I quit being a packer once I became a TM), I'm so burned out on packing that I rarely pack myself anymore.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." peckerhead 0 #59 October 21, 2003 Can you imagine any other sport where you would have to go through this ritual? Like say, when you go skiing and you get to the bottom of the hill you have to put your skis back together......( I would love to make another run but I don't want to rebuild my ski so go ahead without me) Or maybe kayaking, (don't want to re-assemble my boat) Weird!
