sewing on a "seat" reinforcement ?

I'd like to sew some reinforcement material (cordura~) to the seat of some pants.
anyone have any tips or even better, a pattern for doing so?

Make your own pattern. Lay the pants down flat. Put a piece of paper over top of them. Trace an outline of what you want for a cordura overlay. To make it nice and symetrical, trace one side, cut it out, then fold it over to the other side, trace and cut - that way both sides are mirror images of each other. Add a little extra around the edges to allow for folding it under so that you don't leave a raw edge showing to unravel.
