bodypilot90 0 #1 October 21, 2003 Less Typing to Enter www.[name].com addresses Here's a handy hint for saving on keystrokes when typing in URLs in the .com top level domain that start with "www." In Internet Explorer, you can just type the domain name (for example, if the URL is www.microsoft.com, just type "microsoft") and hold down the CTRL key while you press ENTER. This only works on URLs in the .com domain.
turtlespeed 226 #2 October 21, 2003 just tried it with "Dropzone" - Cntrl/Enter and I got a search engine.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
AndyMan 7 #3 October 21, 2003 This only works for companies who've paid for that service to work. It also only works in Internet Explorer. That service is expected to be dropped in future versions of IE. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Hold ctrl when hitting enter, and it just automatically puts www. at the front and .com at the end of whatever you typed in.it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

champu 1 #9 October 21, 2003 Mozilla anyone? that said, I still don't understand the obsession with using "www" all the time. Saying "w-w-w" is 9 syllobols, where as, for example "dropzone.com" (the useful part of the address) is only 4 ahem, cough
jtval 0 #10 October 21, 2003 I have never typed in www. just go to a search bar and type name.com or .net etc most of my links are shortcuts anywayMy photos My Videos
narcimund 0 #11 October 21, 2003 On Mac IE you don't even have to use CTRL. It's just the default behavior. If the browser can't find the domain you typed, it adds ".com" and tries again. Whether or not it will work without the "www." is up to the system administrator of the domain. It's a small extra step that some people are too lazy to do.
