flyangel2 2 #4 October 22, 2003 I foster dogs and have ended up keeping three of them. Also have two cats that I've rescued, but they seem to like my boys more than me, though I'm the one who feeds them and cleans the litter box. I voted dogs.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. Michele 1 #9 October 22, 2003 I didn't vote - either/both is my option. The issue for me is my weird work hours, and small home with no yard. Very unfair to a dog, although cats adapt well. Whichever it is for you, I hope all are loved and shower you with love in return. It's what they do best, you know? McDuck 0 #10 October 22, 2003 Honestly? I can't choose. I love dogs, and feel the need to pet every one I see. It doesn't take much to get them all goofy and silly and happy...much like me. I adore cats as well, because no matter how much they love to think they are all that, they still can't help getting mushy when you scratch lightly behind their ears. Not to mention the fact that I used to train big cats at an endangered species park. I loved those tigers, pumas, leopards, lions and serval very much. I just seem to have a special affinity for animals.Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school. Amazon 7 #15 October 22, 2003 I have thought about getting a cat as big as some peoples dogs... There is a website that I found where you can get bobcat or lynx kittens.. the only problem is I am afraid the overplayful kitten might play with one of my other kitties.... to death I have watched bobcats several times in the wild.. as well as a cougar on several occasions in one of the wilderness areas here.. they are such beautiful animals, and I had a friend who had a pet cougar...very very friendly cat and loved to cuddle but when you talk about litter boxes... .. I can see it now ...if I owned a quarry. Jeanne
McDuck 0 #16 October 22, 2003 Okay, I have to chime in here. Bobcats and Lynx are absolutely NOT what you want for household pets. They tend to be the most intractable of the smaller feral cats, meaning their instincts are damn near impossible to overcome. I trained three of them and came to work one day to find that two of them had killed the third, their sister. They also ate a significant portion of her remains. They are not designed for household living.Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school. mcneill79 0 #18 October 22, 2003 QuoteIt's nice: as you become accustomed to a particular cat, you cease to have allergic reactions to them. Is this really true, I absolutely love dogs and would love to get one, but with travelling and my small apartment I can't get one now. But I would love to have a pet to come home and snuggle with, so I was thinking about a cat, but I'm allergic
FliegendeWolf 0 #19 October 22, 2003 I guess it depends on how allergic you are. I used to get runny noses and puffy eyes and would sneeze a lot when I first started living with cats but they don't bother me at all now. I mean, if you're going into anaphylactic shock around cats, I wouldn't try it, but otherwise it seemed to work for me. Cava 0 #20 October 22, 2003 I would vote Cat. Mine is a lazy longhair who is only 2 lbs shy of weighing as much as my rig. Dogs are ok but too many are poorly behaved. As the cliche goes, the similarities between cats and women are well established, no need to go there. Except to say that it would be nice if some chick would fuck me if I gave her some ground turkey meat.
