Help/CD/Video upload?

Recommended Posts

Hi, all, your favorite computer illiterate here.

I just received Rob Tonnesen's Memorial Ash Dive cd - 8:24 long, absolutely brilliant work by Lief the editor. I want to load it up so you all can see it...but I have no clue how to do it. I can watch it, but can't figure out how to do the rest.

Can someone, using the "is the machine plugged in" method of instruction, help me out? I'd really love to get this up so that you guys can see a father releasing his son, and be touched by the magic that was that day...please? I'm begging here.

Ciels-
Michele

I've got it on a cd...and no idea what to do with it now. How do I get it over to my own machine so I can send it to another one? Or is that not how it works?

Ok...if you close Windows Media player and cdouble click on the icon MY COMPUTER, you'll see the CD, right click on that icon (the CD icon with the movie) and when you see the menu click on EXPLORE, after doing that, tell me what do you see.

Michele,
Go to My Computer. Open that, and then you should be able to tell which drive the CD is in(It should have a CD icon/list the name of the CD). Then right click and chose open. If this works, it will show you the files on the CD. Drag and click them to put them on your PC. After that then post them to www.skdivingmovies.com

Michele,

Put the CD on the machine and then close the media thingy....

Now, if you go to my computer icon, and open and then where you see the CD drive (could be the letter D: E or on depending on your pc. Right click that letter that you know represnts your CD drive, and select the explore option. Once you are in there locate the file that runs the movie....and copy it by right clicking it or hitting Ctrl-c

I can find it in drive F; however, when I click on it to open the movie, it tells me there's a software component missing???

So I must've done something wrong....

Ack...

RIGHT CLICK....meaning using the RIGHT button on your mouse, a menu will pop up, you have to choose EXPLORE

yes, you asked me to explore....but explore what? And I am right clicking (although it's good of you to check....it's me after all.

I am saving it again with the Real Media thingy rather than quicktime, because it kept yelling at me about quicktime. And it plays on the media thingy just fine.

Oy.

135,287 kb. Running time is 8:24

That's pretty big, right?

Divide by a 1000, that will give you megabytes...which translates to 13.5 MB. It's way too big for dz.com. Put it on www.skydivingmovies.com/public/dropzone.com/ folder

Sorry, I read the number wrong..there's a reason I'm a political science major.;)

the Pinks part was to show support for JFTC....maybe I should put it back in even though we aren't doing it again until next year....hrm....

O.K., I'll try to send it to skydivingmovies.com. OR shoudl I try the new one Leroy put up, the mirror site?

Any idea how long it will take on a dial-up?[:/]:S

not sure, depends how much bandwith Leroy has. If too many people watch it, he may exceed his BW limit, and then the site gets shut down. I'd say put it on SDM.com. At least 30 minutes. I have a T-3 connection, so I think mine is about 5 min or less. It depends on your network and how many people are trying to access it.
