TheAnvil 0 #1 October 22, 2003 SPAM came up in a thread and I was just wondering. I NEVER buy ANY product advertised in SPAM. Anyone know what their rate of response is?Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

turtlespeed 226 #3 October 22, 2003 Oh yeah, I love spam...Makes a good sandwich when you are a poor student, two slices of bread and a slice of spam, grilled up and peppered w/ tobasco sauce - Seriously, I did buy one thing, a cell phone service, wasn't too bad, and it was only a six month service deal. Worked out for me.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

PhillyKev 0 #5 October 22, 2003 It's very very low, but so is the cost of sending email. It only takes a small percentage of dupes to provide them with enough income to make it worth their while.
prepheckt 0 #6 October 22, 2003 I remember reading it's like 0.015 percent response rate, or something like that."Dancing Argentine Tango is like doing calculus with your feet." -9 toes
TheAnvil 0 #7 October 22, 2003 I wish it were 0.00000000000000000001 x 10^-1000000 % or zero % even, better still. Then they would stop.Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
pilotdave 0 #8 October 22, 2003 Spam makes up something like 75% of all email. It's time to find out where it's coming from and kick some ass. I started doing a little research into who spams. I was surprised that the vast majority originates from inside the US. I really wonder if a large percentage of spam comes from only a few large sources. I'd love to see those companies burn to the ground. Dave
champu 1 #9 October 22, 2003 spam just crossed over the halfway point of all e-mail sent this summer, not sure where it's at now advertisers have three different rates that gear the success of e-mails they send, open%, click through%, and conversion% for "targeted e-mail marketing" (think: legitimate spam that has a working unsubscribe feature) an open% of 40%, a click through of around 5-10%, and a conversion of 1% are all pretty good. for all out spam where companies will harvest e-mail addresses from anywhere they can, hijack smtp servers to send e-mail, and forge headers to get past filters (think: "use the power of herbs by coming to africa and find out anything about anyone while increasing your penis size") the click-through and conversion rates are on the order of 1:1,000,000 ... and they can still do this profitably /edited to clarify a couple things
