tkhayes 348 #1 October 23, 2003 I have posted this before and am posting it again for those in the need, We run regular blood drives at Skydive City/Z-Hills and have accumulated 187 blood credits. We seem LOTS of people getting injured and we never see anyone asking for the use of these credits, so if you have friends, skydivers, whatever and they are heading to surgery and need blood products, we have credits that can be extended to them. We need the patient's name, name of the hospital, and location, etc and the general types of products needed. This not only saves them money but can help save a life too. Let us know anytime, we can put you in touch with the right people at our blood bank, thanks TK Hayes Skydive City
AggieDave 6 #2 October 23, 2003 TK, That is a great thing for you to beable to offer our fellow jumpers! When we meet, I've got to get you a beer.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Stacy 0 #3 October 23, 2003 I've never seen TK have just one beer. Usually there are multiples then he runs off mumbling something like "I wanna do something cool with the golf carts..." __
JohnnyD 0 #4 October 23, 2003 TK- Honest question here. Do you find it difficult, considering all the tattoos, piercings, trips to Mexico, etc. to find enough people who are not only willing, but eligible to give blood?
SkydiveNFlorida 0 #5 October 23, 2003 wow! That's awesome!! Angela.
Stacy 0 #6 October 23, 2003 In my times at ZHills, it's not only jumpers that donate. We get a lot of Sig Others of jumpers who donate, etc etc. ZHills is a pretty big DZ. Not all of us are tattooed hooligans. __
JohnnyD 0 #7 October 23, 2003 Not at all. I just meant to say that one little girly tattoo on your ankle or an extra earring somewhere and you were not eligible to donate for (I may be wrong here) six months. That has been a big problem for blood banks in general.
ladyskydiver 0 #8 October 23, 2003 You have to wait 1 year after getting a tattoo before being able to give blood. Once that 1 year period is over with (assuming all else is ok), you can give blood.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.
Aviatrr 0 #9 October 23, 2003 I haven't been able to give blood for years due to business trips to various countries(mostly South America)....even though I usually don't even leave the airport! One year rule applies for travel to many foreign countries. Mike
mibster99 0 #10 October 23, 2003 I am also not able to give blood. The last time I donated blood was in 1999. I went a few months ago and was informed that I am indefinitley banned from donating blood since I had spent over 6 months in England and Germany between certain years (1980s and 1990s I believe). I was floored since I have already exceded the new limit when I donated in 1999. The disease they are concerned about is mad cow disease (BVE?)----------- Downwind
