Stacy 0 #26 October 26, 2003 heya pammi! I randomly bought a few bottles recently as I've been testing out my wine tastes. Found one that was cheap at the grocery store (7-8$/bottle) and went down very smoothly. It was called Baywoods Symphony (2000). cheap, yummy, and not even a screw off cap! It's a white, served cold. __

themitchyone 0 #30 October 26, 2003 Pammi, Red wine is meant to be at room temp, while the lighter wines are usually chilled. Vallerina suggested Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. That is an excellent choice if you're at a restaurant or at home. If you're near a Trader Joes, you should also try Charles Shaw. RoysPlayThing 0 #31 October 27, 2003 Hmmm... not bad wine smarts I prefer wines (Red) Because of my italian backround it was always something that we drank for dinner, and I learned alot about wines going to wine tasting all over the world. Now I'm just so used to red wine, it is my drink of choice.... Of course there are much more yummy alcoholic beverages to be had. _______________________________________________ My mind is like a parachute...it functions only when open. Remster 30 #32 October 27, 2003 QuoteRed wine is meant to be at room temp, Noooo....!!!!!!!!! They are supposed to be a bit cooler then room temp, unless your room is at 17 Celcius (which is a bit cool)http://wine.about.com/library/bl_temps.htm But that being said, room temp or just a tad cooler is OK for me, but really, if you are in a good restaurant and pay the silly amounts of $ that they charge for wine, you're entitled to getting you're money's worth.Remster

It was explained to me that it means room temperature in places like France, NOT the hot and humid southern US.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

AirMail 0 #37 October 28, 2003 My understanding is that red should be served at cellar temp - about 55-57F.-- It's never too late to have a happy childhood. Postal Rodriguez, Muff 3342
tbrown 26 #38 October 28, 2003 Chardonnay's aren't sweet. But some nice sweet white wines that you'd want to have cold would be a Gewurtstrauminer or a Riesling. Both are sweet, but not too sweet to have with dinner. Muscato (also white) is really sweet and probably more of a dessert wine. Of the red wines, you can get some Merlots that have a nice sweetness.
