I said upper 200s :P

Some how I missed the "upper" in your post. Well, not everyone can walk onstage weighing 280+lbs and feel confident in a speedo...infact 98% of the people I've ever seen in that weight range would most likely break some sort of federal law if they put on a speedo. If they didn't there sure as fuck should be a law about that!

Amen to that! (if their body fat is over 15% that is)

But I don't think there are many pro bodybuilders even in the 280 range. Jay Culter competes at 260 and he's one of the bigger dudes out there.

Thanks folks.

I'm pretty fortunate with my body type that I tone up pretty fast. I'm not looking to be huge, but toned. I'm usually very disciplined when I get through the first week. I would prefer to go to my gym, but as I said, it is a distance from my home and it takes up so much time. I've been in a slump the past year and a half due to a series of injuries. But looking in the mirror, I know it is time to get serious.

Thanks again,
Chris

It's an honest question because I know nothing about serious weight lifting, but -- has there ever been a top body builder that didn't use them

reply]
I saw one guy who competed in some state level contests who was a gymnast and he placed well. I read about another guy who competed in the Mr. Olympia while training hard with weights (and probably steroids) back in the old days. He said he had also won contests without training with weights. He was gifted genetically though. Wide shoulders, properly shaped muscle groups, narrow waist, and plenty of muscle cells. If you don't have the right genes you don't have much chance of going very far in this sport. Anyone can improve by lifting weights in terms of strength and muscle size, but few people have what it takes (genetically) to reach the pro level in body building.....Steve1

...And whatever you do!
Don't buy NEW!!!
There is so much "used...but never USED"
exercise equipment out there dirt cheap...
Look around...

We have a "Universal Gym"
Stairmaster and Treadmill...
All bought in 'like-new' condition,
for less than 1/2 new cost.

(Of course buying and using are two separate issues!) [:/]
