Ready..Aim...Aim....Aim

I heard about this on the radio on the way to work this morning.

Attempted suicide by cop: In Knoxville, Tenn., in September, Thomas Martin McGouey, 51, apparently set on committing suicide, painted a bull's-eye on his body before arranging a standoff in which he pointed a gun at police officers so they would kill him in self-defense. McGouey's scheme failed because Knox County sheriff's deputies, who fired 28 shots at him, missed with 27 and only grazed his shoulder with the other.

Y'know, that's probably the happiest possible ending to that scenario -- no one died, we get to make fun of the Knoxville PD.

Of course, with a big target painted on him, I"ll just bet they figured out what he was doing, and a lot of those misses were trying to graze him.

But still -- Bwahahah!

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

But these guys ended up with 27 bullets flying off into where ever. I hope that it wasn't in an area with other people around.
I AM glad that no one died, but we have got to give cops reliable ways to subdue people non lethally.

Not surprising. Cops can't be purposely missing due to stray civilians, accountability, etc. Unfortunately, a good number of them aren't the world's best shot. I've often been to a range where cops shoot and some for qualification.......sad sight.......especially for those who don't often practice.

You just like saying that you goofy 1/2 a pair.

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.

LOL! I'm guilty as charged! :$ But it is a funny stereotypical scenario...I'd be dragging him to Knoxville to visit in-laws! :D

It is a funny steriotype. But if you had an accent, redish hair & were pale, it'd be even more so - but your not. Kinda a twist on the norm... but I guess that's normal for you 2.

in reply to the thread, I think it's horrible that the officers in question had that bad of aim. How are they suppose to be a threat to criminals if they can't hit a man standing still? Send em all to sniper school!
