Call me a Wahhhhmbulance, please!

Yes, Keith, I did...

I am such a girl. I mean, really.

So Nick comes over to save me from freezing, and I point him over to the floor furnace. He gets down on the ground, fiddles around, pokes his head over his shoulder, and says "there. It's on." All he had to do was turn the handle thing. That's all. And because I am such a great big ol' girl, I hadn't turned it hard enough/far enough, or whatever, and never got it lit. Then Nick, because he's curious, turns the other handle thing...and shuts everything down and turns off the pilot light, and then teaches me how to light the pilot light. So I know now what to turn off after an earthquake, and how to relight it if I need to.

YAY Nick - and sad me...I'm such a girl. I won't even tell you how he changed a lightbulb for me because one burned out a year ago, and I hadn't changed it.

So yes, Keith, Nick came over and warmed me up.

But how dumb am I? Very....

sigh....

But at least I'll be warm tonight. It's still gloomy, but I think maybe I'll order a pizza and open a bottle of wine. Or maybe not the wine. I've had enough whine today....;)

Nick, you rawk. Thanks so much. As I lay there in bed tonight, I'll think of how toasty I am, and how kewlio you are. Hugs!

Michele,

"That's what friends are for". I am so glad you are now warm and cozy and you know how to relight your pilot light should it go out again. Sometimes, it's nice just being a 'girl' though, huh?

No, sweetie, be happy -- you have good friends who care about you. And now you know how to turn on your pilot light.

And there's nothing wrong with being a girl. Don't forget you're also a black belt and an author B|

Don't worry Michele, if you never needed to light a pilot light how are you suppose to know.

I lived in ND for 20 years and never had to turn one off since even in the Summer there were times you needed heat. It wasn't until I moved to TX that I had to learn how to turn it off and on, although I never got over my fear of blowing the furnace up when I had to light the damn thing.
Fly it like you stole it!

Jan, you are so right. And know what? I am a blessed lady. I've got friends all over the place who send me little notes and pm's, and some who will take time out of their busy days to come spend time with me, or rescue me from my ineptitude...how kewlio is that? That is one for the blessing journal!

No, nothing wrong with being a girl. And a tough, articulate one, at that...but still...how embarrassing. Nick just came over and popped the heater right on. But that's the kind of day I've been having...so like I said, how kewl it was to get a wonderful hug from a gorgeous man in a warm and cozy house?

did Nick show you how to replace the light bulb, or did he just replace it for you

Um, well, no. And to make it worse, it's one of those two bulb jobs, and I only had one bulb. So I suppose I will climb on a chair and get another bulb in there sometime. What if I fall, though? Maybe I should wait another year...

Skycat, I've never lit a pilot light before in my life. But I like to think I am capable of figuring it out, you know? That way, I'm not really a helpless female....;)

Nick, again, thank you so much. And you're right - I just wanted someone to come over and take care of me. Glad you offered....'cause I wouldn't have thought to ask! LOL!

I'll throw in a bit of monday unhappiness myself. After having my shoulder frequently dislocate everywhere else, it finally managed to come out during my AFF level 6. Went to see the doc today, and surgery it is, which means no skydiving for 3-4 months[:/][:/][:/]

i'm sad.:(
