Slappie 9 #1 November 4, 2003 I was watching the morning news (local) and we've got this guy who goes out and does stupid stories in the mornings. Jonathan Walton is his name. This morning he had a taped story of his adventures. He found a wind tunnel in the Houston area. He weighs 260lbs (his number) and the tunnel couldn't get him off the grate LOL I was laughing out loud this morning. Said the weight limit is 220lbs. http://www.adrenln.com/ website isn't much. Looks to me like this is a portable tunnel. Still might be fun to get some peeps together and take a drive and see what it's all about. Now I don't know much about wind tunnels. The cost is $10 a min. Is that normal? Can you do headdown or a sit fly in portables? nacmacfeegle 0 #2 November 4, 2003 Are you jumping Slapster? Just before I left, there was talk of opening a Tunnel in the Houston area...Dunno if it ever got off the ground though...-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Slappie 9 #3 November 4, 2003 Got a bit of info now that I posted the link.. doh! me.. I called the number. Sounds like some tunnel guys were able to get enough money up to either lease / buy a portable. Guy sounds pretty enthuasiastic. I asked a few questions. Can only support 1 person at a time. 135mph wind speeds. You are able to practice FF positions. He said he has a "skydiver discount" $25 - 3mins. Anyways I may be taking a trip out to check out this place. Sounds very very new to me. The guy told me they've done no advertising at all. This news story was the first bit of exposure they've had. Sadly no I'm not. I sold my gear about a month ago. Personal things to take care of. I'll be getting back into the air one day though. Just not right now. I still have your canopy though It's stored up nicely packed and in my closet for safe keeping. AggieDave 6 #5 November 4, 2003 Post info about it, that might be a fun trip, even if it's not Skyventure!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

jumperconway 0 #7 November 4, 2003 From what a customer told me today, it's up around Conroe and would make the Las Vegas joke look like Lady Liberty. These are not to be confused with anything like any Sky Venture tunnel.
Rebecca 0 #8 November 4, 2003 I just talked to the dude, and he said they're planning on building a stationary tunnel... As for its current state, while I'm certainly not expecting SkyVenture, what should I expect? Hey, they're open 'til 9- could be a fun date! you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?
airann 1 #9 November 4, 2003 This address looks hauntingly & scary familiar. Just a short 17 years ago... Houston Half Pipe - Houston Metal Pipe, or Houston Skatepark, same thing in 1986 Aug 1986. NSA Pro AM in Houston that day: Tommy Koesel, Jeff Phillips, Tony Hawk, Todd Prince, Craig Johnson, Lance Mountian, Ken Fillion, an Allen Midgett. Tony Hawk placed 2nd. The Houston guys signed my Mag. I had a 35mm I took out there and worked with a lot. They all tried to kill me, grinding right up to my lens and airs right over my head. Target was my name. They got over it. I ran into Ken at Lola's last year. The Houston guys had a band in 86- Bark Hard - More scary pictures from Summer 86. Good thing I didnt tape it. Who knew some of these punks would amount to anything. ?? Hawk has a video game. Fillion, Gibson, et al. still have decks for sale. If it turns out to be the same place/owner, That would be a real flash-backl. Id have to drive there to find out. I only remember his face and how to get there, kinda. ~AirAnn~
