2fat2fly 0 #1 November 4, 2003 How would one go about tracking down who sent an email from a hotmail account? ThanksI am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
indyz 1 #2 November 4, 2003 I'd search Google and see if the email address has been used anywhere else (message boards, mailing lists, USENET, etc.). Beyond that it's pretty hopeless without getting lawyers involved.
CrazyIvan 0 #3 November 4, 2003 Accounts like that are called ANONYMOUS, since they are WEB BASED, tracking them will be no good since you'll be getting the web server info, plus, some ONE TIME ONLY addresses can be created.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you. lummy 4 #4 November 4, 2003 QuoteHow would one go about tracking down who sent an email from a hotmail account What do you mean, like what is the real name of a person at a so n so address? Or who was actually at a computer who sent an e-mail? Or who spoofed the e-mail address from a completely different location and just SAID they are @hotmail? The First, I believe Hotmail has a directory online that MIGHT have the info you're looking for the 2nd, if you didn't install that spy camera next to the PC, you're SOL 3rd, depending on how SHTUPID the person is, you MIGHT be able to read the full e-mail header to see where the e-mail is REALLY originating from.I promise not to TP Davis under canopy..
