Blahr 0 #1 November 5, 2003 One thing thats not changed since my first jump in 1989 is that "experienced" skydivers cross their legs while under canopy. This looks far cooler than having them all splayed out. Only newbies/students fly around like that! Its just not cool. Thats the theory anyway. In practice, no matter how many times I try to cross my ankles, its just plain uncomfortable. Even with my VERY comfy new Vector 3. I dont see that changing. I've decided to resign myself to looking like a newbie. Its just more comfy. Why do something that takes away from an experience that I pay a lot and risk a lot to enjoy? Nightingale 0 #2 November 5, 2003 hmm... I cross my legs under canopy because it seems to take some pressure off the "ouch" points of the legstraps. Been doing it from jump 1. Didn't know it was something "experienced" folks did... I just do it because its more comfortable. LOL.
skydyvr 0 #3 November 5, 2003 I was taught to keep my legs crossed under canopy (close to the ground at least), because it can help decease the exaggeration of wind induced sway. . . =(_8^(1)

dterrick 0 #7 November 5, 2003 Comfortable. If it wan't more comfortable I'd submit to looking like a sky-dork. BFD to that. Faber 0 #8 November 5, 2003 I cross my legs becours i enjoy the flight down,i have freinds that flies whith "spread" legs, its all about how YOU feel, nothing else matter. think of this..if you x your legs but forget to spread them before the landing, who cool does that look Do what you feel best, its a sport of our own choises, and if some one blame you for looking newbialike flying as you do,then the person has the wrong attitude to the sport. AggieDave 6 #12 November 5, 2003 Yeah, I tend to look like a big "gumby" flying in the air, with my legs hanging, not crossed. I like it that way, always have, only have crossed my legs a few times, infact. It does leave me to use more harness input, IMHO, though, leaving my legs uncrossed.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." skybytch 273 #13 November 5, 2003 I had about three jumps when my instructor told me to cross my legs cuz I was lookin' like a $3 whore under canopy. I cross 'em at the ankles and uncross them on final. That's the most comfortable way to be under canopy for me regardless of what rig I jump.
