vdschoor 0 #2 November 6, 2003 Hmmm.. I would go to that, but I can't. For some reason foreigners (which I am) can not give blood here, which is a bummer. I used to give blood back in Holland, I think it is important. You've got enough of that stuff to share, and considering how many people you can help out with it.. it is well worth it. Remster 30 #3 November 6, 2003 QuoteFor some reason Its for BSE. Different restrictions for different European contries, the most severe being for people who lived for some time in England. We lived there for 3 1/2 years, and now, no one want our blood.Remster
billvon 3,116 #4 November 6, 2003 Wish I could. But you can only donate once every 16 weeks when you donate red blood cells via apheresis. Plus which I'm A+ which is not usually the most needed type.

skydyvr 0 #7 November 7, 2003 There was a time many years ago that I needed blood -- now I am slowly paying it back, and am very happy to do so. . . =(_8^(1)
fields 0 #8 November 7, 2003 I've been donating. Every other friday, I do platelet apheresis. They take a double batch, so it counts as two donations. I am also in the national bone marrow registery. I hope your post prompts some jumpers to be donors."And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk
TaeKwonDoDo 0 #9 November 7, 2003 Every opportunity I get... I started giving blood a few years ago, and the folks at stanford sent me a card telling me that I have "special" blood (apparently, there was a common childhood virus I never got that makes it "special"). I can't remember what it's called (who knows - they could have made this up to make me feel special and obligated to give... ya think) Once I found this out, it just felt like the right thing to do. But I still hate the needle - one time it had too much anti-coagulent on it. It hurt and burned so bad I almost screamed. But I keep going back... Here's to hoping I never need to make a withdrawl. - Jeff "That's not flying, it's falling with style."
