California, along with the rest of the nation is facing a major blood shortage. Please, if you can find the time, make a trip to your local blood bank. It doesn't hurt much, and you get free cookies!!!!

Type O blood is especially needed, but all types are needed.

also, if you're not on the bone marrow donor list, please consider that as well...

Hmmm.. I would go to that, but I can't.

For some reason foreigners (which I am) can not give blood here, which is a bummer.
I used to give blood back in Holland, I think it is important. You've got enough of that stuff to share, and considering how many people you can help out with it.. it is well worth it.

I've been donating. Every other friday, I do platelet apheresis. They take a double batch, so it counts as two donations. I am also in the national bone marrow registery.

I hope your post prompts some jumpers to be donors.

Every opportunity I get...

I started giving blood a few years ago, and the folks at stanford sent me a card telling me that I have "special" blood (apparently, there was a common childhood virus I never got that makes it "special"). I can't remember what it's called (who knows - they could have made this up to make me feel special and obligated to give... ya think:P)

Once I found this out, it just felt like the right thing to do.

But I still hate the needle - one time it had too much anti-coagulent on it. It hurt and burned so bad I almost screamed. B|

But I keep going back... Here's to hoping I never need to make a withdrawlB|.
