Florida DZ questions......

Recommended Posts

Tampa to ZHills....about 40-45 minutes.

Closest airport to Sebastian with airline service is Melbourne(MLB) at about 25 miles. Not a major airport, but I think all the airlines fly mainline jets in there. MCO is the next closest, about 85 miles(80 of it interstate).

its about and hour and 15 away by car.

Hmmm....for some reason I was thinking Sebastian was farther south. (My map is in the car and I was getting frustrated with map quest) :D FLL is about 2 hours away. It sucks cause I can get CHEAP fares from Cleveland to FLL.

Probably late January or early Feb. Just making some general plans at the moment. This FREAKIN COLD weather up here has me thinking about going south.

Right on. You can't go wrong with either Sebastian or ZHills. You got the Bytch at Sebastian though, she's fun to party with. If you time it right, maybe you can get a ride to the DZ from Stacy. She's been known to frequent both.

it definately does not suck.

It SOO does not suck, but then neither does Zhills. Sebastian has a much better view, and way cooler planes, in my opinion.

I did Z Hills last January and saw Stacy again. Met Jraf and a host of other cool folks. I have a trip coming up to Tampa so I may try and make it out to Z Hills for the afternoon. When it's on my dime in January or Feb 04 I want to hit Sebastian. Haven't been there yet.

ZHills is closer to Tampa than Lake Wales is by about 30 minutes. It's probably an hour and fifteen minutes to Lake Wales from TIA. Lake Wales is usually flying anywhere from 5-10+ loads each weekday, though. They will fly the Cessna 182(wide body, 300hp, 17 minutes to 13,000ft with 4 jumpers) with as few as 2 fun jumpers. The Twotter usually flies with as little as 5 or 6 jumpers. I don't know what they require at ZHills to fly...maybe somebody else can answer that.

I live really close to the Fort Lauderdale airport and jump at Sebastian. If you let me know when you'd be flying into FLL, I could pick you up and make the drive to Sebastian. It's two hours north of here and I don't need much of an excuse to make the drive. :)

Make sure you tell me when you're coming. I have my D now, so I don't have the night jump excuse anymore now.

(Damnit, now what am I going to come up with?) ;)

Well.....it will be winter then..... It's too coooooooooold!

Hey, I jumped 4 times in Raeford when there was snow on the ground! I had 4 layers of clothes on, but I still did it! :P

Just for the record, I actually prefer the cold. I hate the weather in Florida and only live here because my family is here. I long to be in a cooler climate!
