Woohoo!!! London here I come

Recommended Posts

Two weeks; one with family, one on my own. I already have plans to meet up with the handsome and talented Skreamer the first weekend -- Great Britain is small, so everyone should drive to London to make it convenient for me, right? :P

Anyway, I'm arriving on Saturday, Nov. 22, and leaving on Saturday, Dec. 6 (I think). Food, beer, none are safe!:D

Woohoo!

Make sure YOU do the spotting, or you might be touring Ireland instead. :)
Have fun !

Dude dont they drink that WARM stuff over there??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer

Britain
One common stereotype of the British (and indeed most residents of the British Isles) concerns their love of "warm beer". In fact, their beer is usually served around 12 degrees celsius - not as cool as most cold drinks, but still cool enough to be refreshing. Modern-day pubs keep their beer constantly at this temperature, but originally beer would be served at the temperature of the cellar in which it was stored. Proponents of British beer say that it relies on subtler flavours than that of other nations, and these are brought out by serving it at a temperature that would make other beers seem harsh. Where harsher flavours do exist in beer (most notably in those brewed in Yorkshire), these were traditionally mitigated by serving the beer through a hand pump that mixes air with the beer, oxidising it slightly and softening the flavour. Nowadays, only real ale tends to be served this way, and is not typical of how mass-produced beers are served - it is common to find the latter sold in bottles or drawn from a carbon dioxide-driven tap.

Have a most wonderful time, Wendy. I will get back there someday - I was there a while ago, and simply adored it. Have fun exploring, investigating, and seeing history in between the beers. Take lots of pictures, too...

And yes, by all means, let Skreamer spot for you. Imagine explaining to the Irish how you got into the country without a passport - with a South African in tow. That should be interesting, to say the least.

The weather's rainy, wet, cold and windy here this time of year. Bring some thermals! ;)

Still great fun though, and London is a great place :)

Having said that it's the most beautifully clear sunny day outside right now and the skies are blue! Damn being stuck on the ground at college!

I am so glad that nearly two years on (IIRC) - Will's spotting techniques still crops up in threads - and lots of them.

Can't imagine who would pass that sort of footage on to HH :S

Oh, and Alana, you know I'll be there to meat ya! ;)eh?;)
