QuoteQuoteWell, why not get a library card? They're free, you know.
Oh I see. You want to start a conversation about Michael Moore's new book, but you aren't willing to summarize anything in the book for the readers here, so that we have something to talk about.
That kind of leaves your little thread dead in its tracks. Have fun talking to yourself.
Pardon me for daring to show interest in a liberal theory. Why did you bother to mention it (in bold type), if you weren't willing to talk about it?
Mmmm... you really are from Texas aren't you.

It is perfectly reasonable to only want to discuss a book with people that read it. After all, discussing the summary of a book is exactly that, a summary, not the book itself.

There's that, and there's also the fact that when one prefaces asking for a summary by announcing that he or she would never pay good money to buy anything produced by the book's author (and, it seems clear to me, is even unwilling to go to the library and actually read it for free), it suggests that they're not actually that interested in hearing the ideas, but are rather looking for some cannon fodder.
So, JohnRich, if you are actually as interested in how things might work according to Moore as you say you are, I repeat: read the book.

I have no idea what you are trying to imply from that...

No, I'm not willing to read the book. But I am intrigued by the theory you suggested. That's why I asked you to provide a short explanation for it.
If you're only willing to discuss it with others who have read the book, then you've got yourself a dead thread. You would do better going to a book-reader's forum or a liberal's forum..
However, if you are willing to invest a paragraph in explaining the theory, then I'm sure you would get people to listen, and respond.
But you've made your choice. You aren't willing to contribute a short summary. So you'll most likely get no responses. You reap what you sow. You've sowed nothing, and will reap no responses.
It should come as no surprise that if you aren't willing to start the conversation, that you won't find others willing to do it for you. It should also come as no surprise that people aren't willing to run out to the library to read a book, just to follow up on what you said.

I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama
