Skymonkey13 0 #1 November 15, 2003 2 jumpers from the 82nd Airborne were injured today at Arrowhead Stadium where the KC Chiefs play. They were doing a practice jump for a up-coming college football game to be played there. We hvave had VERY strong winds all day with gusts of 40 mph. One jumper hit the stands and injured his face and the other hit the field so hard that it shattered his ankle. I don't know alot about doing stadium demo's, but i would think that you wouldn't be doing a practice jump with strong winds and gusts of 40 mph. But it is sad to hear. riddler 0 #7 November 15, 2003 Quoterecently the GREEN BERET SPORTS PARACHUTE CLUB AND THE 82ND SPORTS PARACHUTE CLUB merged into 1 club SEeing as how they call themselves "sport parachute clubs", and the fact they were jumping into a stadium, I assume they were using squares? When I hear military, I always think rounds, but I can't see anyone jumping rounds into a stadium with 40 MPH winds Trapped on the surface of a sphere. Skymonkey13 0 #14 November 15, 2003 I just seen the latest news report but they still didn't tell the names. They did say that they were both doing fine and that one was from Ft. Bragg, Carolina and the other was from Ft. Lewis, Wash.
Raefordite 0 #15 November 15, 2003 The 82nd Sport Parachute Activity Club does still have a demo team. And yes, they most definitely jump squares. Very similar to the Golden Knight demo team - just a much smaller budget. Plus these guys all have full time jobs in the military. They train on weekends and when off duty. A great group of guys & gals. Very professional. By the way - the news is BULL! The 82nd demo team is training at Raeford Parachute Center as I type. The entire team. They know nothing about the incident.

leroydb 0 #17 November 15, 2003 Two of the skydivers were Green Berets from Fort Bragg, N.C. The other two skydivers were from Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash. It is unclear which two skydivers were injured, and their names have not been released.Leroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio...
