Many riggers (myself included) worked with riggers over a longer period of time than a course would cover, generally a bit cheaper, and you're not worn out every day from trying to get your 20 I&R's in a week, while learning everything else you need to know. As far as testing, Jerry lives not too far from you, I drove up there to get tested by him. Pretty straightforward process, and I'd recommend him to anyone needing to test or learn how to rig. If you still want to go the riggers course, there are a few around the country, cost is usually upwards of about 2k, which may or may not cover testing.
